I know some who haven't done it yet.....The Prowler falls low on the list of priorities for some who have a lot going on, and many other vehicles..... It's hard to set aside time for fixing something that should have been done right in the first place.

Was the recall on all prowlers, or just certain years?

Danny - I see you are a new owner and live about 80 north of L.A. You might want to email Jim Stallings:

exbones@aol.com

and see what dealership in your area have done the recall work with no damage to the cars. Then just take your VIN# to that dealership to see if the recall work has been done on your cat. Their computer will have that info plus all the work ever done on your car.

JUST CURIOUS:
What would you say if you knew some one that was aware of the RECALL, drove his car frequently, failed to act to correct, involved in an accident that resulted from the ball joint failure and caused serious injury or death to himself, a loved one, or a unrelated third party?
I am not asking this from the point of view of those that have not yet done the ball joint exchange, they have many reasons, which to them are legit..
What I am trying to solicit is what do you say when the event happens and the reasons are no longer valid since the injury and or death has occurred.
For the safety and well being of those that have not yet acted and those that might/could/would be effected I hope and pray that nothing happens.
I will keep looking at this site to see where our paths might cross and plan accordingly.
Hope you all find some one soon to do the fix, god speed ,and hope your guided in doing what needs to be done for your saftey and others. We care for you all to much.
Check your insurance policy for exclusions to coverage for negligent failure to mitigate a defect that could lead to loss of property and or injury to persons.
Please no one take this personally and its not legal advise
(not an attorney)but you may wish to refrain from posting what you are not doing. Could come back to haunt you and I do honestly hope not.
Again , looking for your thoughts....MINE ARE DONE-moons ago.
Done here at WestOaks Chrysler in Thousand Oaks , CA.
No scratches....

I just bought my prowler at a dealer. I found out they did not do the recall. They should have done it prior to my purchase. Sould that dealer have liability?

I would say yes. If I recall correctly, the language of the recall instructed dealers to do the recall on Prowlers that were in stock.

I took my 2002 into the dealer today for the transmission problem and he said there is no recall for my vehicle.
I have done a VIN check and it was not entered until 9/03
from the factory with 0 miles. A guy that buys and sells cars from an auction bought it with 20 miles on it and sold me the car. Still new 150 miles on it and I am the first registered owner.
The service guy didn't say the recall was done, just there was no recall. When I pick it up I'll ask him to search the database. If 2/2002 were the last prowlers made... I wonder where mine sat till 9/03?

Thanks a bunch Curtis,
I did talk to another service rep this afternoon and he gave me the history of my Prowler. The ball joint recall was done (so no hassles for me). They are replacing a shift solenoid for the transmission. He also told me my warranty went into effect May 03... I wonder why since I am the first registered owner. I also found out my 2002 was built in 2001... why would anyone let this jewel sit around for so long... Lucky me.
Does your dealership have alot of experience with Prowlers? The guy here said the see very few... I only know about three in Tracy and maybe want to take it to a more experienced dealer in the future.

Thanks again,
Doug

Went in for the recall and top clips today. Very nervous after reading about some peoples nightmares. Well I dropped it off at 7am and got a call at 9:50am telling me they were done. I checked it over closely and it I could not find any marks on the suspension.
They treated me well and got right to work on it. I am very pleased with the outcome and glad it's done.

Does anyone know of a good dealer to do the ball joint repair in the SE Michigan area?
I bought it from Southfield Chry/Ply on Telegraph.
Thanks

I bought my kat in Sept from Monroe Dodge-Chrysler and they done the ball joints at that time. The phone# (734)242-6370. No problems after the job. May want to take the two center cap off before going to a dealer.
