Like many of the Prowler owners, I to was nervous on having the dealer touch my car. Well I wish I had not decided to have the operation.....
Upon picking up my car from Herb Chambers Dodge in Danvers Mass; I noticed the so-called mechanic had been to aggressive with his air pickle fork. He had the blade at a angle so that it dug into the metal on the lower control arm. After my pointing this out to the service manager, and clearly mentioning this, did they agree to replace the lower control arm. Yes, now more work to be performed by someone who thinks this is a PT Cruiser!!!!!!
The car is now in storage for the winter months we are now getting into here, but I will have it repaired in the spring.
I have a question...my car is a red 1999. I have a friend locally that has a yellow 1999. Did the color of the car have any bearing on what type of finish the control arms received? My c-arms are a natural metal finish. His car has what appears to be a silver enameled spray paint look. Did this have anything to do with when the car was produced? Your comments are greatly appreciated. Also thanks for the four replies to my question concerning the rattling noise I'm experiencing.

The smooth finish arms were used first and then they switched to the rougher cast models. Once they switched parts all of the remaining cats got the rougher finished parts. Mine was produced in March of 99 and I have the rough finish. Mine is also Red.

Look at the bright side. The rough finished arms are available, whereas the smooth arms are not available... Before taking your car in for repairs, ask here for a referral of a good place to go. You might have to go a little out of your way, but its well worth it. If I were you, I would ask for them to give you the arms now, with a letter stating that installation will be at no cost due to damage during the recall. Then, arrange to have another dealer install them. These folks obviously are lacking some experience. I would think you can have the work done at another dealer of your choosing.

Billy,

Bring the Kat to DeLuca Chrysler in Haverhill MA. Fantastic work, no damage, very understanding about what the Kat is and is not !! The Tech that performs the work on mine is not Prowler Certified, but he knows his stuff !!!

A liitle longer trip will definitely be worth it !!!

I don't know how to post a link here, but do a search on my previous post "Ball Joints done in MA".

Joe
