Mine had 6,000 miles when I bought it and it was one of the first things I had done. I wouldn't take a chance of ball joint failure and serious damage to the car. Call any DC dealer and then can check to see if the recall has been completed. |

If I were you I would call up a DC dealer in the area and run the vin number with them. They will tell you if the recall has been done. |

There was a previous post here that listed a DC website that you could enter your VIN and it would tell you if recalls were done. I will try to find it. Charlie |

If you want to check it yourself just use a mirror under the lower a-arm and look at the bottom of the ball joint itself. There will be a part no stamped right across the bottom of it and the last letter in the no. will be a X if it is the upgrade. It's that simple. The whole no. is 21032X. These sets are now only 20.00 to buy over the counter, just in case anyone wanted to know. Hope this helps, Obi-Wan |

Hi Kat lovers, Thanks to all of you that helped me out with my questions, esp.Ron, Obi-wan, & Grrowl. First day on site & you guys answered a lot of my concerns. Checked vin.# site & my kat hasn't had the ball joint work done yet.You guys scare me with all the horror stories I've heard about with the repairs. Guess I've got to do some checking & find a good mechanic to work on it. As long as I'm here where can I get mud flaps & a trany cooler cover. They could have designed the trany cooler a little different I think. Only 1 person said I should get the warranty. What do the other people think, should I? Thanks again for all the help.......Mac

Galaxie, don't forget that people do not post that they are not currently having any problems with their car. There have been about 10 guys who had window regulator problems out of all the people who post. You have to keep it in perspective. If it happens to you, it is a major pain in the butt but it is not really all that widespread. Extended warranty is a personal thing. If you don't know which end of a left handed monkey wrench to use and are paranoid, the extended warranty is a must. If you are a mechanic, it is not important at all. The parts are VERY expensive however, and one major problem can cost way more than the warranty so that makes it a great deal. So most of us are somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. I would say you should probably get it. If you never use it, you still had the peace of mind. |

You are on the right track... I was lucky enough to locate a Prowler tech who had already performed the recall on a few other Prowlers... It shouldn't be too hard to find one who has done the job before. |
