They are discounting the SSR here, I think the last ad was $2500.00 off sticker. I do see a few on the road, but unless they have a tricked out paint job or some kind of graphics, they just don't look right to me.

There is a yellow SSR on the lot here, but I opted for the yellow F150 FX-4. And after rebates, it was $10,000.00 cheeper than the SSR.

TLRandall....$10K less and you can actually use your truck.....looks smart to me

...If I were in the market for a $45K toy truck, it would be an easy decision....DODGE SRT10, Viper engine would win me over.....

That's what I thought too. I have a place in the country and occasionally pull a 16 foot tandem axle untility trailer to haul the tractor & stuff around, so I need a truck that looks good and can still be used as a truck!

Don't get me wrong, I would like to have an SSR, but if I had that much money to play with right now, I think I would get a second Prowler or an older Viper.

They must be really slow movers in Western Canada. MSRP is $77K, dealers asking $62.5K......

Another dealer offering their 04SSR at $59.5K or I guess that make it about $44K usd..............

The SSR does nothing for me as well!!! i was at the local Temecula Chevy dealer here on saturday to order the new 2005 C6 Corvette and they tried to to stick me with 5 grand over sticker. I told them where to go!! Then they tried to put me in to the SSR. 5000.00 rebates on them. They can not seem to sell them. On my honeymoon in April I drove one, and I can see why they do not sell. They are slow as crap!!! My sebring convert would give it a run for it's money. The chevy dealer also has $10,000 off any new 04 corvette coups or converts. So they tried to put me in one of them, but I will wait for the new C6 convert.

Troy....
...I assume you check out the Corvette Forum....the '05 Vette is available at MSRP from nearly any dealer, and some are already discounting the C6.....stick to your guns kid.....they are out there.....I just bought(June 4th) an '04 and got $12K off MSRP at Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn, Mi....the '05 is a real head turner....
...Buy one from a Vette Forum sponsor(Stanford etc)and get the deal....have it drop shipped to a dealer near you, or have it delivered to the museum in Ky and have the trip of a lifetime....DRIVE IT HOME....

Ed:

Keep in mind, however, that the SSR will only be collectable if it's totally stock...except for the mods! (lol)

I ordered a yellow one from my local dealer who would discount. GM said it would show up between March and June 05. It showed up 45 days later. It makes a nice addition to my Prowler collection. I have since got phone calls from dealers that wanted to sell me one for over list and now they want to discount. I guess they have learned that a sale in hand is worth more than five in stock.

Sure the RAM SRT-10 is out. They became available in January I believe. They plan to make a quad cab version with an available automatic soon for 2005.

I sat in a black SSR in a showroom. MAybe the one vehicle I could replace the Prowler with and still be happy.

I agree dealers gouge any car price anytime they think they can get away with it. Dealer greed kills many specialty vehicles.

To be honest when I saw my first Prowler, and the asking price was $65k, I walked away, didn't like it, didn't want it. So when the price came down, my reaction was different. We some how change our views on something when we now can afford it. We usually don't like something we can't afford.

They missed the mark on the price first and foremost...also on the powertrain(not available in Standard)...and overall weight!
Rich Buehler has one pulling the Prowler and the set up does look awesome.
You'd thing GM would take this truck a little bit more to the edge.....but no cigars this time!

Very interesting??????
'05 SSR Rumored To Get 390 HP LS2... 0-60 in ~5.0 Seconds

Confirming earlier rumors, reports out of a briefing informing dealers of new product in the pipeline indicate that the 2005 Chevy SSR will be available with a new version of the all aluminum 6.0L LS2 V8 developed for the new C6 Corvette. To preserve the Corvette's bragging rights for its 400HP engine, the SSR's LS2 will be slightly detuned to produce approximately 380-390 HP, though it is likely to have more torque than the C6 version.  With the new mill the SSR is said to be produce 0-60 times in the low 5 second range with quarter mile times under 14 seconds. LS2 equipped models will be available with a new six speed manual gearbox or an upgraded 4L65E automatic, along with a beefier differential. These upgrades have probably been part of the SSR's product planning from the outset. The new LS2 will eventually be available in other Chevy and GMC trucks, in part to counter Dodge's wildly popular 5.7L 340HP Hemi and Ford's rumored 6.2L 'Hurricane' V8 in Detroit's truck horsepower race.

My Prowler is without a doubt the coolest thing I've ever
owned but I do admire what Chevrolet has accomplished with
the SSR. Hats off to Mopar, General Motors and Ford for
taking a chance on these retro cars and shame on all the
dealers that let greed cause horrible stumbling blocks for
the masses. Jeff

Our local Chevy dealers has 5 SSRs sitting on his lot and they have been there for quite some time. Even here in Detroit I've only seen maybe 5 or 6 of them on the road!
