CJ, you seem to be "the one" that everyone asks for DC questions. As we all "DON'T know" is when DC will stop producing our cars. My question is about parts availability after production is stopped. I know the engine parts will be available long after as the motor is shared with other models. My concern is with the availability of parts that are only used on the PROWLER. If I remember correctly, a few weeks ago someone was asking about a certain bearing used in a '99 model and was told that there were no parts left at this point already. I know that manufacturers are suppose to stock a certain % of parts after a product has been dropped, but with the low overall production of Prowlers that might mean 10 of this and 10 of that. Do you think a list of (OEM) suppliers to DC of Prowler parts could be obtained???? We might be able to get parts from them when DC says they don't exist anymore.......Thanks for your help! Anyone else have thoughts on this? |

Y2KRedProwler.... Replacement parts for the vehicle will be made available for a reasonable period of time after the vehicle is no longer in production. The timing is based upon the demand for the parts. Extra efforts are made for low production vehicles. Prowler was an experiment with many new technologies. Some of the original suppliers are no longer in business and alternate sources are being used. A primary example is the front control arms. While the originals are not available, an alternative is. It is not likely that DC would give out a supplier list. Hopefully, this answers your questions. What bearing are you speaking about? Was it the control arm bushings that we were discussing? Hope this helps.......CJ |

I found today a wrecked Red 99 KAT in the Auto Trader Asking price was $28,000 it looked like minor front end damage. Hate to say it might be good money to invest in a KAT yard for Prowler owners that need parts Chris ------------------ |

CJ, Thank you for the answer on this. It confirms why I am going to buy a set of front fender brackets as soon as they (hopefully) become available. I think I'll look back and be glad I did. This is in regard to an earlier post about same from Larry Lord. |

That is a good idea about going to Mike's house. You are safe with me Mike.....I've decided I would go to Todd's house instead as I won't have to pay shipping on the parts! (I have to convince Todd to buy a fourth one now..a red one of course....so I won't have to repaint the body parts!) |
