What a difference a year makes. Last April (2000) 364 Prowler sales (all time record for single month). Current Apr sales are down on month to month basis as well. I guess this shoots down the theory sales will pick up in spring / summer... Maybe we need a hot color... April sales were 98 Plymouth & 81 Chryslers for total of 179. Also, for the 1st time DC has posted something called Total Stock (which I interpret to be available inventory). 708 Plymouth Prowlers & 669 Chrysler Prowlers for a total (shipped & unsold at dealer) of 1,377. Dec 2000 150 Viper sales were 107 & PT Cruiser 11,630. ------------------ |

Personally, I don't mind sales going down. It would be nice to be able to cruiz with someone, but I like being one of the only Kats in the Oklahoma City area. As far as the PT's, I read they are bumping up production to 310,000 units per year. Supposedly, that's for worldwide distribution, but still; I like it, but not if EVERYONE else has one. ------------------ |

Not a surprise...dealers here in Indiana are sitting on Kats everywhere....I have dealers calling me to sell me a Prowler and offering "GOOD DEALS"...some of these guys are the same ones that were so cocky just last year and wouldn't "entertain an offer" unless it was way above MSRP...there is a new 2000 Yellow and lots of 2001 Blue Kats within just a few miles of me...one dealer in Ohio got in 5 Prowlers at one time last month...he unloaded several of them to dealers in Indiana....agree, they need a HOT color....reds, limes etc etc... ------------------ |

Laddie; It could be that the Dealers' greed has created the problem for sales. Example: A friend was in Tampa,Fl the weekend of April 20th, and saw on a dealer's showroom floor two Prowlers, one with a price of 71,000, the other 73,000. The dealer where I bought my Prowler last September received an Orange Prowler in February 2001, sold it the same day for 10,000 over sticker. They received a blue one around the first of April, 2001, and as of 10 minutes ago is still on the showroom floor. Regards. |

yep, the buying public hates to be ripped off. It would be one thing if DC sold the cars with an MSRP of 65K, but it is quite another to feel ripped by the dealer for 10-20 K or more, especially when it is not a universal thing. Really turns a lot of people off, and they remember. ------------------ |
