OK, so there is a new kat in town. I'm probably not ready to deal (would have to swap a lease first) but I am anxious to get in, see how it feels, fits... and hopefully drive the thing (Mulholland). Are dealers especially antsy about test drives with the kat? I would be leaving my Benz SLK in their lot. I wish I didn't have this lease thang. That $30K no reserve silver on ebay (with trailor), or the red with trailor and hard top would be nice choices too... Although I must admit purple or black are awfully pretty... Sorry, too much Prowler on the brain... Mike |

Mike, most dealer's in my experience will not let anyone test drive the car until you have already bought one... and the exceptions are the ones leaving the Cat's outside and dramatically over priced. ------------------ |

The dealer will (should) let you drive the car if you qualify for it. Just let em know you are serious about the purchase. Brian ------------------ |

Mike - one of my friends said a local dealer (Louisville) - Neil Huffman Chrysler let him test drive one, but less than 5 miles. You might want to call first. Email me if you happen to be coming to Louisville, you can drive my "used" 2000 with 12,000 miles. Marty ------------------ |

Thanks guys. Judging by their initial price quote of $56K, maybe I shouldn't hope for being able to drive it. Don't know what color the sun is in their world. ;-) Marty, next time I'm Louisville I will email beforehand, THANKS! Mike |

Mike, $ 56K is way too high these days. The guy I know who is a sales manager told me they need to sell one of their two cats, badly. Someone else told me that a friend of theirs took the orange one for a test drive. I am in Cincinnati. If you are anywhere near here, contact me and I will give you a name and number. I think the low $ 40's is very possible AFTER a test drive. |

the dealers in my area would not let you test drive one unless you had money down on it. i just purchased mine from an independant so i was able to test drive it. if you havent drove one yet, you need too! it is definitily a fun car. but good luck. |

http://web.qx.net/mcantrell/prowler Well, they let me drive it! See pics at above link (that's my SLK with the kat). What a blast. Downside was their sticking to their $56,800 price tag! I told them about several Mulhollands on Ebay (one at 41.9, one at 39.5), told them about this web site and the current buyers market... they stuck to their 'small town market' adjustment and the limited availability in my area. Today I found out their is another new Mulholland less than 20 minutes from me, so I am calling them tomorrow... Wondering how I will manage without a trunk if I end up with a daily driving Prowler, but it's hard to resist! Even with winter coming on. Will keep you posted. Mike (FPO?) p.s. Drove it with the top up and down, those sun visors have got to go! This message has been edited by jmcant1 on 09-09-2001 at 12:37 PM |

Thanks Paul. It's messy. I need to get out of my SLK lease and then into a Prowler. I am restricted to trading my lease in state according to the bank. Not sure how that would work with a DC dealership out of state. I'm going to check this new second source and see how far away I am from getting into one. Thanks again. Mike |

Second dealer much more accomodating than the first. I am SO scared and excited at the same time. Am calling my insurance man to check pricing there, then will probably make a counter offer, which the dealer invited. What if he says yes?!?! Mike (ah well, who needs a trunk any how? ) |

One more question that I promised my girlfriend that I'd ask... She is rather small and does not like that the passenger seat is not adjustable like the drivers seat. Is there a way to raise the passenger seat to the height of the drivers seat? OK, two questions... I'd be interested in hearing creative packing ideas that you guys have used when traveling in the Prowler without a trailor. Thanks. Clothes on hangers!!!!!!!!!! Shoes fit well, but not boots. You would be surprised how much you can take inside the rear deck. ------------------ |

Mike - If you are going away for a weekend or less and do not have need for a suit (or pressed dress) you can fit a lot more in trunk area than you would suspect by packing in soft sided bags/duffles. Plus there is a surprising amont of room behind and under the seats. Rebecca and I purchased a cargo rack that fits in hitch receiver. We added a 72 Gallon trunk that we bolt to carrier for tailgating. We can fit a folding table, two chairs, good size cooler of beverages (read beer) plus food. We used for trip to Woodward; not as nice looking as a weekender, but functional and bigger also. It cost less than $200.00 plus hitch. Marty ------------------ |

Mike - Not at this time. I will try to borrow a digital camera and post some soon. Better than that, if you have occassion to drive 70 miles to Louisville (preferably in a Blue CAT) you can see them in person. Marty BTW - I agree about sun visors. Mine were off right after I bought it and do not miss them at all. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 09-11-2001 at 10:16 AM |

Mike, You should have a payoff on your lease and purchasing one out of state is no problem, as I used to sell alot of out of staters prowlers. Just call merc. benz credit and get a payoff and and go shopping. That on in texas? Is that Seans lot paul.

Mike, Simply get a good leather garmet bag... you can easily pack enough clothing for a week for two, as long as you know what you want to wear ------------------ |
