I had not even seen one up close (other than at the NY car show) when I did the paper work, hopped into the car and thought, "Oh, what a mistake." The dealer showed me nothing, the roof was up and the seat was adjusted all the way up. I'm 6 feet tall and I had to angle my head not to touch the roof. I couldn't see the first light I came to without leaning way foward. The ride was harsh and it felt terribly awkward to drive. All the way home I felt really badly, which is very much not like me as I put new car day at the top of my list of favorite days. I arrived home to meet my little boy, who did not stop hopping up and down for close to an hour. He was so excited about the car, of course, he hadn't driven it. To add to my disappointment, the dealer, who let me take the car without the proper insurance papers, called me moments after I pulled into the driveway to let me know that my insurance company (with whom I insure 4 cars) was not going to cover the Prowler! I ultimately found a new insurance company for all my cars and learned to very much enjoy the driving experience offered by the Prowler. I truly do appreciate the car, despite the percipitous beginning. |

I bought my 99 Purple in Feb of 1998. I live in the NYC metro area and the dealers in this area were charging $60-$75 grand for these cars. No sitting in the car and of course no test drive!! I found a car in a small town in Vermont. White River Junction to be exact. I negotiated a price over the phone for the car. I had to send a $5000.00 non-refundable deposit to the dealer. I did pay over list but not anywhere near what the NY area dealers were asking. But i did get to drive the car when i went to Vermont to pay for it ans arrange to have it shipped back. Before i gave the dealer the final payment (he had my $5000.00 that i gave for deposit), he let me drive the car around the parking lot of the dealership. |

I bought my red Prowler by getting a quote on the Chrysler internet site. Went to a dealer in Northfield, MN, asked to see the owner and told him I had a quote for a new car that I received over the net. He said which one? I said the red Prowler right there behind the stantions and ropes. No sitting, no test drive. Told him I wanted to pay cash and drive it home. After about an hour of he and his finance guy trying to get me to do a lease, I paid cash and drove it home. I paid sticker! ------------------ This message has been edited by John M. Feb. 26th, 1996 I made a deal for the second Prowler the dealer would get. A 1 1/2 years before the 1st production car was built. I didn't care how it road, I knew it would drive good and I wasn't looking for the power of the Viper so I felt it would run good enough to satisfy me. I didn't care about a test drive. On a guy's boat as a kid it was named I think that say's it all ------------------ |

I'm with you Larry.......knew I had to have the car! No test drive but I was allowed to sit in it first - I had to be sure I could see over the steering wheel. My husband didn't fit in the car however we didn't find that out for a few weeks (lol). This has been some ride............. |

I bought the silver 2000 over the internet from the Plymouth dealer in Richmond , Va. without seeing or driving. Only knew that it was silver. This was in Jan 2000 and they delivered to my door in Harrisburg , Pa at no additional charge. Paid list. What a pleasure it was dealing with Whitten Bros Chrysler/Plymouth. ------------------ |

I purchased mine April 1999. The dealer didn't even have the car in their possession. It was at a dealer in Alabama closed the deal without even seeing my car before hand. Prior to that I had to beg just to sit in one on the showroom floor about 3 months prior. I had owned street rods before and pretty much know what the worst could be ride and handling wise. Bottom line it did not matter. I had to have the Prowler. Turned iout it rode and handled better than I had expected. I have not regreted it a day since. I paid 5K over sticker and felt I was getting a really good deal. ------------------ |

I placed my order - yes - ( before DC advised dealers not to accept orders) Jan 10,1996. Received my 1997 on April 29, 1998. That's 2 years, 3 months & 19 days. Obviously - No test drive, No trying out the driver's seat. Just a few letters and lots of telephone calls to get the car. ------------------ TonyG@ProwlerOnline.com |

Bought my 2000 Prowler on ebay. Had never even seen one locally prior to bidding. Even the ones I saw on out of town business trips were in traffic. Local dealers did not have any in showrooms. Drove 3 1/2 hours to pick up car. First time I opened the driver's door and got into the car - WOW - I was hooked; didn't need a test drive to KNOW this was MY car. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Hey Aaron, you don't have to be 20 to get dissed by a dealership. My first attempt to see a Prowler did result in a test drive, but the dealer wouldn't budge from their price of $56,800! I told them I thought I knew more about the Prowler and pricing than they did. My saleswoman did not know how to put the top up or down... Anyway, the next dealer (about 20mins away) was much more accomodating on price and just their general demeanor. I turned down a test drive! Didn't want them to go to all the trouble of getting it out of the showroom. If I can work our the deal, I intend to drive by the first dealers place at least once, or until I know they have seen me. ;-) Second trip will be to Louisville to meet Marty. You guys cross your fingers for me! Mike |

After first seeing a Prowler on TV back in '97, I decided I was going to get one. The local dealer was unable to procure one (wasn't a 5 star dealer), so I culled up D/C's web page in the computer, got the phone numbers for the executive officers including the CEO and started calling them every morning at 8:30-9AM asking for a Prowler. Got the standard company speel for about a week until I got hold of the Gen. Mgr. Prowker Div. and after a week's brow-beating, he gave me a nationwide list of wheere all the Prowlers were. After calling all over the U.S. and getting prices rainging from 75K-125K, I called the guy back and told him I was taking the "red-eye" back to Detroit and was moving into his office and send out for pizza & beer until I got a KAT. Ultimately(after I gave him my flight #)he "saw the light" and found a Kat at a dealers about 75 miles away that the dealer was accepting bids on. I told my "friend" that that wasn't good enough --- I needed to know what the high bid was and he had to notify the dealer that I was comming over and the bids were to be closed once I put my bid in. And that's exactley what happened! As for a test drive -- I didn't need one --just needed the car. Didn't even drive the KAT home, but let my two boy's drive it (18 & 19 --yea, I'm brave) home --- followed by a string of sweet young lovlies in numerous cars honking & waving. Since then, the boy's have gone off to college and I've got my Kat to myself(did I mention my daughter?Cost of the KAT --- well, it was a "bid" and the other bid's were substantially over book --but it was the only Prowler in the area and I wanted it, so the check book came out. Let's just say there wasn't enough change out of a 50k dollar bill to even stop at McDonalds! ------------------ |

when I received mine, I had been waiting on a "first refusal basis" for six months. Prior to that I had seen one Prowler in a parking lot and knew I had to have one. After being re- peatedly prodded by me, my dealer found my Kat on the internet from an out of state dealer. I had to make a decision to buy it sight unseen, which I had no problem doing. Five(5)months later-February, 2001), the one which I had first refusal arrived, a burnt orange one. Sold the same day for $10,000 over MSRP. That same dealer now has two(Inca gold and Blue) he can't sell at $1,000 over(Gold)and MSRP for the blue one. |

If anyone took the time to visit our dealership in person, I felt it was my job to show and demonstrate the Prowler and Vipers that I sell. I did not care if it was a 92 Viper, "we have #28 of 196 built in 92'-78 miles on it!" or a brand new 97' Prowler. My policy has always been you shouldn't buy it if you don't like it! The Prowler's a special car, but the people that buy them are special too and deserve to be treated as such! |

I called a dealer in West palm Beach. They had a Black Prowler. I told them I wanted it and that I will be there in a couple of hours. Never seen a Prowler in person before, only pictures. Car in showroom, looked at it from about 20 feet away and bought it. First time I open the door was to drive it home. Frank PS: Love it!!!!!! |
