I'm looking for the cheapest way to move my Prowler without putting miles on it. I want to move it from Va to Ky for the show in Louisville in mid May 2002. So far, the lowest car transport quote that I've gotten is $400 for moving the car one-way. That's $800 round-trip. There's got to be a better way... or I might as well buy my own carrier trailer. Any ideas? ------------------ |

I would not think it would be that many miles, but if you do not want to drive it that far you should buy a trailer and something to pull it with. The real fun comes in driving it. If you must buy something here is my hauler ------------------ |

If you don't want to drive and don't want to buy a trailer, perhaps look into renting a trailer to tow it. |

If you plan on taking your Kat to other events in the future I would buy a car trailer, for the money here's one of the best www.classicmfg.com . |

quote: To rent a truck and trailer round trip from RYDER costs $900. They won't rent just a trailer - You have to get the truck with it. You know who would rent just a trailer? It's actually cheaper for me to pay someone else to transport for me than it is for me to rent from RYDER. I even looked into train transport. Amtrak takes heavy loads (charged per 1000 lbs) but they won't transport cars. I'm probably going to drive this time and then buy a truck and trailer for future shows, but thanks for the tips and keep them coming... ------------------ |

Check your yellow pages under Rentals. I rented just a car trailer once (surge brakes) from a place called Rental Max. Was only a hundred something for a weekend. Or, ask around, friends in the hobby may have a trailer you can use too. Good luck. This message has been edited by Ray on 03-26-2002 at 01:00 AM |

Look Kid....you are missing the whole point of owning a Prowler....DRIVE IT !!!!! I live in E. Central Indiana and in the last 2 years I bought 2 Prowlers(yelo/silver) from a dealer in Woodbridge Va.....What a great drive to Indiana, the scenery is beautiful and the roads are great(think it was hwy 68)...you will have lots more fun and lots more memories of the drive in the Kat than driving a truck pulling the darned thing...drive it and have a REAL GOOD TIME, ....pack light, take lots of CD's and remember, gas stops are frequent in a Kat...have had to fill mine as many as 5 times in a day on a long trip...have a good time ------------------ |
