Hi I'm new to this board, but i'm a long time mopar freak. I have been thinking of buying a viper for some time now, but I've changed those plans after seeing a black prowler w/ chrome wheels at a local speed shop. I'm in LOVE!!! Can you guys give me a run down of the cars? Pro's and cons? Any major issues from ma mopar? What to look for when buying, average price, etc. etc. I may be selling my Road Runner and one of my 'Cudas to make room Thanks ------------------ |

MadMaxx, I have had my car about 4 years. Have always loved Mopars too. Unless you don't like to talk about your car and smile alot this might be the car for you. As far as what you need to know. It isn't a `69 Roadrunner, `70 `Cuda or `72 `Cuda and if your Runner is a factory car it is either a 383, 440 6 pak or Hemi. It is nothing like it. The Cat is faster than MOST muscle cars of the `60's in stock form. I have had 400 & 440 RR, 383 `Cuda's, 340 Challenger, 396 (factory375HP) SS Chevelle. They had raw power. The cat has refined power that all gets used. They can run upper 14's to low 15's in stock form. But we have several modified Cats running in the 12's and driving them with little to no problems. When I'm asked about how it handles I tell them it is like driving a go cart with AC and a really good stereo. If ride is important the 2000 and up ride better. They also have auto dimming mirror & auto VOL. adjusting radio. The `97 has a cast iron block and less HP. If you want one, pick the color of choice. There really is little difference. If you want warranty, get a new one 38K to 43K should get new one. 30~35 should get good used one. Sold my `67 Coronet Convertible to get my Prowler, damn I loved that car, but would do it again ------------------ |

quote: See these discussions (about center caps): (I recommend asking the dealer to remove the center caps and check them for breaks or cracks). Also, check "The Garage" link on the front page for lots of useful info. If your looking for an '02, there is no reason that you can't get one for less than retail. For an '01 with no miles... I'd say less than $40k - but I'm no expert on prices. There are lot's of '02 Inca Golds and '02 Candy Apple Reds if you are interested in these colors. I haven't seen them, but many tell me that both colors are just gorgeous. Don't buy a black one until you see these colors in person. ------------------ |

I've done the raw horsepower route, want something to just get in and cruise. I originally wanted an RT/10, but it's a bit much to manage all the time on the road. Power isn't as important as style and comfort at this time around. Current semi-daily driver is a 3000GT VR4... fun car, but isn't my style. I'm really set on a black one w/ chrome rims... but we'll see what happens. Hows the ride quality on the highway? much wind noise from the top? MadMaxx ------------------ |

I have an 02 orange and my drive to work is 32miles each way and the ride is smooth but you don't have time to think of it because of every one looking at you. at around 70 MPH you get some wind noise buy what convertible doesn't. I drive this more than my hummer so that got to tell you something ------------------ |

MadMaxx.........at least you are choosing the right color..because we all know.... BLACK IS THE BADDEST and the FASTEST!!! LOL!!!! I have a black 99 cat.....never had any of the above-mentioned problems with mine. Have over 12,000 (s)miles on it and have loved every minute of it! It's a people magnet, so if you don't like to talk to people, don't get this car!! One of the bigger advantages to buying a Prowler..... you meet the greatest people! This group of owners is the best! We've made a lot of great friends through owning this car and participating in the Prowler events. We have a blast!! You'll wish you'd bought it sooner!! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

MadMaxx, I have a connection in the Altlanta, GA area that is looking to unload a 2000 black with about 9K to 10K miles on it. I hear the car is pampered and in mint condition but have not seen it. It will probably go for the mid-$30K range. Give me a shout at lavka@direcpc.com and I will give you the details. ------------------ |

MadMaxx, I definitley have to agree with CJ that black is the baddest! I have a 2000 black and it's everything and more that I've ever imagined. It is a people magnet. If you like to be looked at and hooted and hollered at - this is the car that will do it. (Most layman don't even know what it is) I also have a 3000GT as a daily driver but I always look forward to the sunny weekends so I can take out the Black Kat. JUST DO IT!!!! You won't be sorry. Good Luck! ------------------ |

Whoa on that black color call!!! Have owned black and only black on ours cars for, well, many moons. It was the 'ONLY' color... NOT SO anymore! Took the '01 Mulholland home after watching the metallic pearl make the Sun dance all over it. It was like starring at an open fire. Guess what? At night she turns nearly black with the exception of hint of deep blue pearl. This is one sensuous Midnight Blue Kat. Do I like this car more than the C5, Jag, SL or the Porsche??? I moved in the garage last week...): Oh yea, did I mention that the NEW kats come with the transferable extended 100,000 mi, 7 yr warranty??? Hurry on this plus as it may soon end. Look for the price to fall in between 38,000 and 41,000 range. Good Luck in your hunt!!!

Black is Beautiful BUT, put her in a "Pearl Orange" and watch her glow!! Just like Cinderella getting out of her own Private Pumpkin: Drive one and sit back and just grin, don't care what color she is. It's like being on a Honeymoon everytime you get in her!! Enjoy and don't wait to long. 38k-40k is about right. ------------------ |
