What is the craziest thing you've done to protect your car?Recently, I checked into the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. I had the Prowler Valet parked. I checked in and realized my cell phone was dead and it needed be plugged into the car to recharge. The Valet shuttled me out to my car where I realizd in horror they had left it vulnerable by leaving the windows down and doors unlocked. I was furious but they made no efforts to appease me. Last week after the death valley tour, I checked into the Tropicana again. The Valets remembered me. I asked to park my car w/o their help and they gave me all kinds of guff. "yeah but we need he keys in case of emergency." "no we are liable for anyone going into the lot." Just then a spot 20 feet away came open in the valet area and I parked there. They threatened to call security. I ignored them and walked in tospeak to the manager myself. As I talked to the manager, sure enough security came up and tried to intimidate me. I just smiled. The manager refused to apoligize for the valets who left my car unlocked and open to the air. He took their side. The security guard seemed to be the only one with any sense. He promised to follow the Valet up and make sure it was closed up, locked and parked away form all other cars. Wow, I can't believe it but the manager said it was common practice to leave cars with the windows down and unlocked in Valet. Do I regret having made a scene? Well I had my doubts until the next day. The airport in Las Vegas was closed due to 90 mph wnds. Just think how many people found their car a mess because valet didn't button it up. I would never let anyone valet my car. If I can not park the car myself, I do not drive my Prowler there. I think I have let only 5 people drive my car, with 2 being Prowler techs. The first one treated the car like **** , so I have been very picky after that. ------------------ |
