![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a 2001 Orange Plymouth Prowler which I paid 46K for new. That was the best price you could get a dealer to sell it for back in April of 2001. Question is.... At what time do you think this Prowler will fetch 46K from a prospective new buyer? Will it be 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, or never? Just wondering what yours thoughts are? Alex |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good News - Your car, in good condition, will eventually fetch 46K again Bad News - It will be your grandkids selling it. A good car from the sixties sold new for 3-4K and would now fetch a lot more |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I wouldn't look for any appreciation in value until they dissappear from the dealer lots. Still too many of them out there. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The answer is never unless you can wait about 30 years. The used market won't tolerate a car priced at even 50% of today's cost unless all car prices go up to $60-90,000 new. It takes about 30 years for most cars to become interesting again but for now, buy a savings bond. You'll be tens of thousands ahead on a $30,000 investment. Also, only wrecks and common mileage will kill these Prowlers. Too much alloy, aluminum, and plastic, if well maintained, will make the vast majority of the 10,000+ made still around in 30 years. In the old days, rust did it's part to take out millions of otherwise collectible cars that just vanished over time. Only the stout-hearted protectors of common steel cars kept the balance of the interesting cars worth owning and/or restoring. My vote, don't buy this car thinking you'll make money, you'll only be disappointed. |
