New convertable top from the manufacture is about $4,200.00. I just saw a post today on a third party top for $600.00 plus installation. Please check posting around 10/12-10/14 regarding the top. Hope this helps.

That top is electric too for $600! Get the insurance check for $4100 and put in a $600. That's a profit of $3500 which could be used for a trailer or supercharger!!

Thanks for the top info. Vinyl would look cool.

Is that top really electric? I looked at the web site, but there is no mention of "electric operation."

Does anyone have any knowledge of Insurance companies? I just filed a claim for the major "keying" incident like 3 weeks ago($3,900). I am expecting that check anytime. What will happen if I file another claim? Can/will they cancel my policy, or increase premiums?

Keep in mind that I have only had my car since June.

If so, when I go to another Insurance company, can they make me pay a higher premium because of my Insurance claim history?

Thanks for any/all help.

Your insurance company can't drop you for making a claim. Worst case is, they can send you a letter telling you they will not renue your policy when it terminates.

Not really a big deal with car policies, just start shopping around for a better rate. There are hundreds of companies that would love to have your business.

Some Insurance companies are right down there with lawyers in my book. They want your money but, really don't want you to make any claims and can not renue your policy if you do.

My home owners policy was not renued about 25 years ago when I made (now get this) 3 claims of $88 over a 12 month period for shot out window pains. Seems like one of my neighbors kids liked taking BB gun practice on our rear windows upstairs.

Never could figure out who was doing it till one of the BB's was strong enough to break the window and puncture a hole in the blinds. Here is where college physics helped, I lined up the two holes (window and blind) and viola' it pointed right to the culprits backyard. But, I digress.

On the other hand, in August 2001 we filed a claim for the fire in the rent house (different insurance company) while waiting to build a home and that set them back $60K. They have not dropped us though. Go figure.

1) The top is not electric, they just have an elapsed set of photos showing the top going down.

2) I don't know where you got the $600 price as the base one is $825.00. Different colors and grades cost more.

3) The price is for the skin only which means you will have to pay a local shop for 8-10-12 hours worth of labor at $XX.XX plus materials and tax.

Having this just done to mine, I can tell you it is a 2 day process to de-skin the original then add the new skin to it.

$2K-$3K is probably more like the actual cost when all is said and done.

Wow George..What a horror story. Makes me sick just to think about it. Sounds like the only thing you could do is find a house in the suburbs with a REAL garage and accept a longer commute to work. Even if you catch the punks who are doing the damage I would bet $$$$ that nothing happens to them. Sure hope things get better. Good luck, Buddy.
