I have come across a 97 with a trailer and under 1000 miles. Is this worth buying or are the 97's more problems than they are worth? |

I haven't heard of any special problems but I don't own one. |

They all have the lower horsepower engine, think it is 215HP compared to 253hp in the later models...they are all purple, all have painted wheels instead of chrome....they are low production, under 300 made I believe.....if the car and price suit you, there is really nothing much different except the engines.... |

Ride is also a lot harsher then 2000 or newer. First 50 or 150 were hand assembled (I think) and I've heard of a few issues with those (as would be true with any new production line) |

Neal and Mary: Check with Mojoriser (Mitch Mitchell from the DFW area). He has a '97 that was one of the first delivered and loves it. I'm sure he can fill you in on anything you need to know. His is beautiful and has a trailer to match also. Tami |

All Prowlers are hand built. I have been to the plant 3 times and I can confirm this. The 97's have a 214hp iron block. From 99 on a 253hp aluminum block. This message has been edited by BeWare on 11-10-2002 at 09:07 AM |

Thanks Rich! I thought all Prowlers were built by hand. Had never heard that one about the first 150 only before. Weren't the 97's and 99's lower to the ground also? Tami This message has been edited by TKFischer on 11-09-2002 at 07:42 PM |

BZZZZZT, Todd, you missed the last question. The 2000 and newer are almost an inch higher off the ground. Tami, pick the next question and it is worth $ 200? lol |

My '97 (car #158) has over 50K miles on it now......I'm not sure what "problems" you refer to but mine has been great. Only thing I had to do was have steering column replaced because of a broken clock spring. This occurred at about 5K and no, I have never had a problem with the removal/replacement of the dash or anything else. The hp is 214 but I can go just as fast and keep up with everyone else and their prowlers. I love how it handles, I love the tight suspension, the ride suits me just fine. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.... Debbie This message has been edited by Catwoman on 11-10-2002 at 01:44 AM |

I was not refering to any specfic problems, but was wanting to know what my expectations should be. My first two Prowlers are trouble free so far and I want to add a thrid one. I am also looking at a new 99 that a dealer needs to sell and trying to decide which one to buy. I have been getting many e-mails from dealers and private parties and want to make a informed decision. All input is welcome. |

If your adding a third Prowler I would go for the 97. Why not have one from the first year built in your trio. |

No reason not to buy a 97. I don't know what year your other two are, but just remember that the suspension and ride are different from the 2000 and up! |

How much different is the ride? The 2001 & 2002 ride pretty harsh I feel. |
