Ray - Mine all came black, but that is a good idea. |

Thank AC ... hmmm ... could we persuade Mr Bob to visit MSX with the hinges before we arrive by chance? Would love them to be yellow when I put them on as opposed to basic black (good for Black Kat owners though). |

I left mine black. The trunk liner is Graphite, so the black goes fine. ------------------ |

I will go ahead and mail the check for $24.95 to Larry later today. Rebecca & I will arrive at the hotel mid afternoon Wednesday. I assume the timing of the installation will be up to Bob. I've put 86,000 + miles on the car without them so I won't be in a huge hurry to push him to do it right away if it means missing some cruising. |

More Hinge Protectors are being built but will not be done in time for Woodward. I'm sorry that I didn't notice how few I had left. Marty Usher*, Ray Szull*, Bob Hacker*, Simonsez, Kevina* and Dan* (2000Cat) are the people that have the 6 sets reserved. Bob is certainly correct on this. These Hinge Protectors should have been on every car originally and they would have been, had the engineers been exposed to the idea but golly they can't think of everything and of course they did a teriffic job in producing the car. As it is we are fortunate they can be obtained now. They offer a lot of value, for a lot of reasons, for not much money. And trust me, I watch every nickle. |

I noticed last weekend a stain on my carpet in the trunk that was from rust on the 2 top/forward bolts on the decklid hinges. Do they really go all the way down to the carpet? ------------------ |

idive, I'm not sure what you are asking. The hinge protectors do not press into the carpet. They do rest just above the carpet and are held in place using one of the 2 bolts (per hinge) that hold your hinges to the car.

I don't have hinge protectors. Meant to get some from you at the stampede but forgot. Wanted to save on the shipping. I'm talking about the 2 top/forward bolts on the hinge itself resting on the carpet. I wouldn't have thought they went down that far. |

The bolts that fasten the hinges to your decklid never get near the carpet. I don't see how they could have rusted but even if they did, they never touch the carpet. Got any pictures? This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 08-20-2004 at 09:40 PM |
