This post is not one I really want to make but feel I must and now is time to try and find a replacement. I want to Thank everyone over the past 4 years that have taken the time to take some great shots of their cars and send to us. Not everone one got their car in the calendar and I hope you understand that Damon received over 800 picture this past year. We could not use them all, but appreciate the effort you put into it. I have done a calendar for 2002/2003 and Damon and I did the 2004 and 2005. We both feel that we will not have the time to put into doing a 2006. Damon had hundreds of hours in collecting, sorting, adjusting and making the layout. Global Graphics has given me a good price (I think) on the work they had to do to print them for us. By no means were they 100% ready to print any of the 3 years they have done it. Each year they charged less as Damon did more. Sue and I had less time invested but many hours getting supplies, making a list(yes we checked it twice) printing packaged & shipped Plus the money invested. Damon and I did this basicly as no cost to you. We did make a small donation to POA from the money that was left after the bills were paid. Now for the question; Do we have any one in the printing business that would like to take on this project? I enjoy the calendars and seeing everyones cars and would like to see it continue, but with family & work issues for both Damon and myself we just cannot do it again this year. 2005 we printed about 950 calendars (350 to our POA members and 600 to Wayne Wagner with his company advertising on a drop down). I hope you enjoy them each month and have a plan on what to do with the pictures after the year is over ------------------ |

The calendars have been great, Larry and Damon, and I understand all the work, time and effort it takes to produce something like this. If I had any clue how to do it (not counting talent), I would volunteer, but unfortunately, I don't. I hope someone does and is interested in taking this on! You both did a wonderful job on the calendars, and we give you a big Thank You! for that. |

Larry, I have contemplated doing a calendar with all my wallpaper I have done thru out the years. I have all the resources to do a killer calendar layout. As everything, each individual has their own style so I would introduce a different type of layout style. Back in 2003 I began to think about this and had done my first wallpaper layout. Here is what I'm talking about..

Having just retired after 25 years in the printing business my heart felt thanks goes to Damon & Larry. I know what is involved and it is alot of work. I also know what my company would have charged for those services. Damon might have the right idea just from the standpoint of it being less time consuming and expensive. Thanks again guys. |

What I liked about the calendars that Larry and Damon did was that they focused on the cars using everyone's personal photos. They were about the cars......and the people....uncluttered and done tastefully. Great job! |

Thanks for posting the thread, Larry. I have enjoyed doing the calendars. I did them mainly for the experience. When I started doing them, I knew I had most of the skills needed and the drive to get it done. I learned a few things along the way.... which is what I wanted to get out of it for me. I am glad that they have been enjoyed as much as they have. About a year ago, I approached a local calendar publisher... I offered to supply hundreds of pictures from the club if they would design and manufacture Prowler calendars, but they were not interested in starting up a new calendar project. I will help a little with whoever takes this over, but I do not have the time to carry the project. |

Damon and Wildcat, thanks for all the work you two did,(along with Sue) to help make the POA family the type of group that it is. Everyone has their own talents and you two shared yours with the entire group. You did a great job. Thanks again. |

Dan, I personally like the stuff you have done. I might be a nice change to have some of your cool talents used to make a calendar. Our calendars were, of the cars, by the owners, for the people. But I think the 2 could be used in one calendar. Maybe take the shots that get modified used as the larger picture and the originals in the small frames available on the date page........just a thought Larry This message has been edited by WildCat on 03-17-2005 at 12:30 AM |
