![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: quote: Call me crazy...but a dealers floorplan is "free" for one year. After the year is up you have to begin paying interest on the "loan" for the unsold vehicles on the floorplan. That's why you can definitely get a great deal on a car that has sat for more than a year on a dealers lot. That's also why I think you may be pleasantly surprised at how cheap you can buy any of the "new" prowlers still sitting on the lot. Car dealers couldn't give a rats rear end about holding onto a car until it appreciates.....they want it GONE because it is costing them money by keeping it sitting there. The key to selling cars or boats or anything that utilizes a floor plan is not to begin incurring interest on your floor plan. That's why GM's who have that special talent for managing inventory are priceless in the car biz. I really don't think that any dealership would be dumb enough to sit on a Prowler for 10 years waiting for it to appreciate and pay interest on it all those years and then try to sell it. That just doesn't compute at all. Dealerships are more interested in getting this years floorplan out the door and get next year's ready. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Robbieb - you are "crazy". In the past chrysler reimbursed dealership 30 days (not a year) for floorplan expenses. On top of that, the time started when it left the factory, not when it hit the lot. Some ship times can take over 30 days (from Mexico & Canada). Shortly after the Daimler merger, chrysler did away with floorplan assistance. Boat manufactures may give dealers a year, but not car dealerships, especially chrysler. Banks only let dealers floorplan vehicles for a year, so most of these prowler are "owned" by the dealer. At this point, it may be more profitable for them to hold onto the vehicle. Someone may pay stupid money for a "new, untitled" prowler sometime down the road. When the customer would make out is if the dealer needed quick money and had to unload a vehicle he owns for cash.

I tried to work a deal on one last year before I bought my used 99...they want to sell them, but they still want sticker. That's probably why they still have them! |
