A few weeks ago, I posted that my 2001 Mulholland had "died" in the garage, and wouldn't start. A number of helpful posters offered ideas. I finally called D/C Road Service, who came out and tried to jump the Kat. No dice, so at the suggestion of someone near me, in Florida, I flatbedded it to Accardi Chrysler in Pompano. They insisted it was the battery, saying that the road service folks often didn't charge batteries correctly. They refused to consider looking at other things, eventually billing me around 80 bucks for a new battery, and returned the car to me with cigarette ashes all over the front seat. Back in the garage at home, 2 days later, it died again. No start. Once again, on to the flatbed. This time to a local (non 5 Star) dealer, who kept it a day, then "reprogrammed" it, charging me a hundred bucks, even though I have the full replacement extended warranty from D/C. It again comes back, goes into my garage, and 3 days later.....you guessed it. No start. Throughout this time, I have been calling D/C for additional help. The only way in is to call the 800 number. Various conversations with phone reps are unproductive. Indeed, some don't even know what I am talking about when I mention the Prowler by name. I have been left to drift by D/C.The Prowler is a very special car. They won't let me get to a tech rep, and aren't very helpful. This is the first real problem either of my 2 Kats has had. The company's total disconnect on the car is very disappointing. I am hoping somebody has a way to get to a competent individual at the manufacturer, to help with this awful problem, which is making it necessary to flatbed that car every few days. I need to get though to someone who can help me solve this thing. Any thoughts?

I would contact the FIRST dealer and tell them they did not fix it. Come get it and fix it correctly this time. Tell them that they are paying for the tow and you want your money back from the first trip. That ought to at least get their attention. When they tell you, NO, ask for their boss and keep going up the line until you get someone who will listen.

Call ARRIGO CHRYSLER in West Palm Beach and speak with David Weaver in the service department. David is very understanding and helpful and they have a very good tech.
Good luck ....

Another fabulous example that D/C REALLY cares about us Prowler owners, just like the flaky wheels, the breaking window regulators that have been on backorder for a century now.............VERY DISAPPOINTING !!

Sorry about your troubles deelmakur, I'd be pi$$ed too !

Dustis,
What are you talking about...that's the best $250.00 I've ever spent!!!

I would have rather put that money towards a Weekender or a trailer hitch.

I fully agree with Ed .... and would be calling back the 2nd dealer too for a refund. These places do offer a warranty of their own on their service, parts for sure, but heck, a couple days later and same problem ... get in the face of the places that took your money. It's a shame that noone from the D/c number is able to help ... but go figure! Good luck and sorry to hear of your plight!

You need to call DaimlerChrysler Customer Service back, tell them you want to file a complaint and ask them to put you in touch with your Zone rep (now called Business Centers). If you don't get satisfaction from the phone rep, ask for a Manager. If all else fails, let us know and we'll see if we can roust someone for you.

When I was looking for a Goodyear certified EMT dealer to "rotate my tires the hard way", I called that number. This is what I found out:

1. The number is not DC, it's a contractor.
2. They had no idea what a Prowler was.
3. They offered to make a service call to put on the spare.
4. They said they could tow me.
Question: Where will I be towed? - Answer: the nearest Chrysler dealer.
Q: Is this nearest dealer EMT equipped and certified? A: What's that?
Q: What kind of truck are you dispatching? A: Whatever is available? Q: Can you dispatch a flatbed with a low ramp angle as specified by Chrysler to transport a Prowler? A: Huh?

The Goodyear number provided by Chrysler to find the nearest certified Goodyear EMT dealer was also lacking - it just automatically connects to the nearest Goodyear dealer, who, in this case, is not equipped to handle 20" wheels and has never been EMT certified.

Be careful and know the specific Prowler requirements in an emergency situation. By the way, the "Prowler Towing And Trailer Tie Down Procedure" referred to above is in:

Do what I do, abandon the dealers and their sloppy service and find a good local mechanic who will take care of the car. In the end the money is worth fighting the principle, outside of any major warranty disputes of course, but for a battery or alternator, get a good locl guy to take care of it, spend a few bucks for the peace of mind.

Piece of mind can sometimes cost bucks...But remember dealers hate Prowlers. too unique to work on.

I might get bashed for this comment but....

We have multiple dealers in California that do what I would say is above and beyond what you would expect.

If your flaking chrome rims were within the 3 yr 36K warranty I do not know of any being refused replacement.

If you bought the car after the 3yr 36K warranty then sad to say Chrysler didn't have to do anything.

I know of dozens of people that have had the chrome rims replaced, even I had the fronts replaced without question.

Find a dealer you can trust and you might be surprised what can be accomplished...

they should have done a recall on the rims when they found out it was poor workmanship that caused them to flake and pit...same with the hood struts....
my warranty was expired and they did the ball joints.......
defects should be fixed if they value their customers...

but they don't care... 2800 miles and pitted all to hell ?? sounds like defective to me ...

i'll probably get bashed by Chrysler about this...

oh welll

I totally agree with halicat. But as DC made no profit on the entire Prowler run I guess they did what most Cooperations would and put it behind them and focus on their Crossfire instead. I guess they lost too much replacing all the $35.00 lower balljoints.

halicat...I don't post much, but I do read everything. If you hate Chrysler so much and you are that unhappy with your prowler, why don't you sell it and buy a corvette or something?

I must say i'm honored that you would feel the need to insult me with your 23rd post in 4 years...

its ok...my negative comments deserve it... i guess...

I don't think i ever said I hate Chrysler.... I think i said that I hate the way they have ignored the issue of flaking rims.. big difference....
I hate the bad customer service...
I guess you don't have a problem with your prowler rims... your lucky and probably one of the few that didn't... one of the members even has his flaking in the box... without ever being on the car...they were replacements for the flakers that came with the car...

Bad Product... Bad Service...

oh yea..
I don't have to love Chrysler to love my car...and I do !

There ya go Krazy Kat..... how would you like to have defective wheels like this on your show car..... ???

bitter ??
yea, i'm not a happy customer because of the product quality and the manufacturer that won't back up their product even though they know the problem exists and is supposed to be "watching"....

these wheels are a joke right from the peeling chrome to the cheezy plastic centers...

i really ... REALLY.... love my prowler.....

i must add that the stock look of these wheels is excellent.... they really look cool... great design !

unfortunately mine only look cool if you are 20 ft away, as not to see the Kellogs or the silicone on the centers...

everyone notices....
