Laddie, so glad to hear you are ok. Let us know if you need anything!! Tami Sure hope Al and Darlene are ok also - aren't they in Baton Rouge? By the looks of things where we were driving for Cruisin' the Coast has been devastated. Hotels and Casinos gone, most of the antebellum homes along I90 where we were driving along the coast and everyone was sitting in their front yards watching us go by have been leveled. Very sad for these people. T This message has been edited by TFischer on 08-31-2005 at 10:15 AM |

Great to hear from you Laddie and relieved that all is well or will be. Tami.......I was also looking at the pics on tv thinking about the Cruisin' the Coast event and the time we spent right there in that area. It's impossible to comprehend the damage that has been done.......alot of irreparable. It's staggering.... After I initially posted this, I was also thinking about Al and Darlene.......I don't think they've been on the board for long time, either. FYI Laddie - I heard a lady being interviewed on the radio today,,,,she lives in Covington, next to Mandeville. She was told that it would be 6 to 8 weeks before electricity is restored to that area,,,,,,but then that didn't mean much since the clean water supply and sewer system would take several more months before it would be up and going. Sorry to report that Laddie, but figure you might want to know what the folks in your area are being told. Keep in touch with your friends here on the POA,,,,,and may your heart not be troubled with this disastrous situation. You, your family, and your community our in our thoughts and prayers. |

Laddie...glad to hear you, Karen and your family are well and that you only suffered minimal damages. Hope the other POA friends did as well. Our Navy daughter just phoned to let us know she will be deployed to the Gulf Coast/New Orleans area departing Norfolk tomorrow on the USS Harry S Truman. Many other ships have also been deployed to help in the recovery efforts. Take care... Nancy & Jay Harris |

I got a note from Jimmy this evening letting me know more about Laddie. Their new house they are building did just fine and weathered the storm. Laddie and Karen are at their daughter's house and I have that phone number if anyone wants to call them. Just send me an e-mail and I'll send it on. I would rather not post their number here. Jimmy said cell phone coverage is still very sporadic, but the phone at the house is working. T |

Laddie What about Kal? I'm glad you came out OK, but since Kal did such a great job on my painted Bra, I was also thinking of him while I was reading these posts. |

I saw on the news that Fats Domino is missing. He refused to leave with his family and friends. He is around 80 years old, I think they said. |

Ken & Carol Carter What about your friends in Bay St Louis that owned the "Dock of the Bay" restaurant that we all enjoyed in recent years during Cruisin' the Coast? Nancy Harris |

Nancy, Jerry Fisher and his wife were at their place in the Colorado mountains when it happened. We talked to him just before the storm. But, since his cell phone is a La. area code we have not been able to reach them. Thank God they are OK. At this time we have no idea about the rest of their family members. They sold the Dock Of The Bay several months ago. CNN showed some video of that area and the Dock appeared to no longer be there. Don't know about their house in Waveland. |
