quote: you're still crazy John I got gears and made it through the quarter in 3rd without hitting the limiter and still ran 12's and 106. Guess the stroker has the torque not to need the gears....or smaller diameter tires. What converter was used guys? |

quote: The stock tires wouldn't hook up at all. This run was with 15" M/T slicks (with and outside diameter slightly smaller than stock rear tires) and stock front tires aired up. Exhaust consists of Norms custom headers and muffler. Heads were flowed, custom cams and 4" bore and stroke. Stock tranny and modified torque converter. RWHP was 300+ in it's current configuration. We still think we can pickup more HP with a little more R&D. BTW, this is a yellow 2000 Prowler. Many thanks again to Norm's team and everyone else who made this happen. Norm has been working on the stroker project for over 3 years now, and has produced 4 engines so far. He will be making the strokers available in 3 sizes pricing to be determined. Anyone with questions should feel free to call Norm or Jim at Westech Automotive (262) 889-4346. ------------------ |

Mike - I tried to get Norm to swap engines in our cars when I was up there last week so I do could do long high mileage R & D on the "302" but Norm wanted to keep it up there to run at the track. Maybe I can get back up there and switch now - just so you know the engine is durable! |

Thanks for sharing Mike--again, great times and another milestone in Prowler development. Looking forward to future development. Think the yellow color had anything to do with it? |

JD, in general and from my discussions with Norm, it's pretty safe to say that the regular builds regardless of ci will all lend themselves very well to being normally aspirated, supercharged, or nitrous boosted based on the stout bottom ends, forged pistons, camming, head work, etc. The exception is a turbo build mainly due to the inordinate exhaust back pressure not present in the other builds, but Norm built accordingly and I'll be running the prototype turbo build. John - George's engine dynoed the same Horsepower figures as mine. Engines are the same basic size and configuration but his is was running 87 Octane gasoline and has lower compresssion by 1.5 points I believe so it will handle boost. He has slightly different cams and valves because of being a turbo engine. |

True Marty. Beyond that I've got to go back under wraps about my particular setup for competitive reasons due to having four or so nationals on the agenda for '06, but I do look forward to representing Westech at events, and will be providing a lot of feedback to Norm for his development purposes which others wanting to turbo will benefit by. the nice thing about a turbo in the 300 will be plenty of room for an intercooler. |

Hey Al, I'm glad you didn't part with the yellow TT, it leaves you positioned for just swapping in a short block. Maybe Santa will bring you one. But... believe me, on the 300 there's nothing easy and like zero room under the hood or in the nose. You can make room, but there's a price to pay in more ways than one to get it done. It definitely isn't the way it was when you saw it last |
