41 Willy's 331 " Hemi 9.41 @ 148 mph,
My first Prowler 99 Black on long open highway some where close to 130 not sure was to busy watching for Cops-cars and wild things (deer and other critters).

For the size of the engine. I think my Honda S2000 is the fastest I have driven a car . Had it up to130 and handled like a dream. Not bad for a 4 cylinder.Still some left if I wanted to red line it.

Just over 160 in my buddies C5. Was as fast as I wanted to go on a public road. Have ran the prowler until it shut off too. About as aerodynamic as a box at speed. I think it was as scary as a stroked Jeep wrangler I had at that speed...

Even at 130, only one little twitch and it is gone. Not the right vehicle for those speeds.

I have the good fortune to be in Germany and get to drive my Z06 fast daily without the worry of going to jail. I have been 189 mph several times. It is really a thrill to drive at that speed but in the back of my mind I know one slip-up and me a Jesus are neighbors...

All well and good. Do you ever think of the other soul(s) you might take with you to see Jesus when there is a "little" slip-up?

In the mid 1990,s I use to drag race a VW beetle, 1914cc engine with mechanical fuel injection on methonal, the fastest it ever ran was 12.30 at 108 mph, 1/4 mile. I always liked seeing the look on peoples faces when this little car was faster than their V8 powered cars, a lot of people asked if it still had a VW engine in it. Prior to that I had a Valiant Charger 360 V8 with nitrous but it was not as fast as the VW but it was a fast car for the street.

In top speed or in accel?
My old race car (Corvette 1976) was the fastest in top speed, (194+ at the old Daytona road course, no bus stop chicane), that I ever drove, but my (original) 427 Cobra (1966) with a built side oiler was still the fastest 0 to 60 car.(The Corvette had much taller gears)
If that Cobra had a modern tire I'm sure it would be in the high 3s (0 to 60) now, then it was 4.2 or so.

TLR, how long do you think it will be until the first one is totalled by guys cowboying them? Hopefully they will last a long time but I would bet the urge to try them out will be overwhelming.

Fastest car I've ever driven would be my boss' Mercedes SL500 AMG.
Fastest I've ever been in a car would be my SHO. 140mph is quite a feeling!

Well Boyz,

It has been a while since I have stepped to posting and with my advanced age, it is probably best. Having just turned 119 years old, I sometimes have trouble doubling clutching as my feet don't always do what my brain tells them.

Anyway, just last Christmas, Dew Bun gave me an Ariel Atom for a present and I gotta tell you that this sucker can put a load of hurt on most things on the track! I skipped the breakin period as, at my age, time is of the essence.

I strapped this beauty on and popped the old clutch and slammed the pedal to the metal. Damn near jerked by head off but I soon was whizzing past 100 MPH in less than 6.86 sec! Dew Bun was ah hanging on to her innards which is something for a 28 year old as they are kinda supple and firm.

I shifted and took this beauty through it's paces and hit about 190 MPH before I finally backed down on the throttle as I could see that it was a bit more machine then I was used to handling. I jumped on the binders and was amazed to learn that this thing could stop in 3.8 sec from over 100 mph. Wow, what a machine.

Anyway, I gotta run as all of this talk has made my clutching leg start to twitch and I wanna head out on the track.

I gotta wait until tomorrow as it is ah getting dark and Dew Bun just finished ah cooking up some fancy vitals that I getting set to squash. At my age, a powerful hunger is often times followed by a big ...... something.

Take care and look up the specs on this machine for some eye popping numbers.

Ed, that's the concern now with the administration here, that these things are so damn fast, it might be like when DPS got the 5.0 Mustangs years back and totaled more than half of them within months.

Our training coordinator is now tasked with setting up a new driving course so that the guys that are issued them can see the difference between the Crown Vic and this machine. The ESP, Electronic Stability Program, makes this car handle so much differently than the Crown Vic, that we are going to have to retrain on our high speed course and on our controlled braking courses.

These cars are going to be tested for the year, and we will decide if we will purchase any more after that. I'm sure if the first one to wreck one survives the crash, he may be looking for a new job!

TLR, it is only human nature to check out the new equipment. Hopefully they will respect that power until they get used to it. I guess it is like the new Viper owners. Like they used to say on Hill St. Blues, "you all be careful out there".

What an absolutely great topic, plus to see all the great "drivers" <vehicles & people> that are part of this forum. Gotta be car lovers. Me too!

Off the showroom floor, 1968 Plymouth GTX. That car was fast off the line and top end also. Stock up to '147' but there was still more where that came from!

On two wheels a Kawasaki 750, well over 100 with no helmet. (young & foolish days) & that was on the freeway onramp!

Have had my '05 Mini up to 100 & still more there, and this isn't any speeder, but it'll sure ggooo...

Have slowed down in my older wiser years. Well at least older...
