OK, I need some help. I have an opportunity to purchase a red 03 SRT-10 with 9,500 miles on it for 48K. I have never really looked at the Vipers from an potential owners point of view. The good news is I do not have to get rid of any other toys I just get to add to the collection. I have to make a decision in the next 48 hours. If I do not get the Viper it is going to be an Aston Martin DB7 Coupe. Any pro's or con's you can give me on the Viper will be greatly appreciated. I pick it up Tuesday to drive it for the day. How do they retain their value? It will not be a daily driver just a toy to enjoy on nice days. I am looking for your advice as reporters tend to focus on short comings like the potential to burn your leg...etc.

Thanks in advance.

Todd

I am getting it through a wholesaler that gets me all my cars. I cannot get a read on the values.

$48000 isn't bad for a car with a $85000 sticker. Vipers like most cars depreciate the most first year or 2. Lots of older vipers that sold new in the 60's selling in the 40's. Don't compare a Viper to a DB7. Vipers are kick in the pants cars. Aston Martins are more comfortable, quieter, refined. Vipers are a Factory Built Racecar. If your driving it for the day be careful, you better be a good driver or it will bite you!
Viper owners Invitational is Sept 25-29 in Vegas this year. What other Car company rents out Las Vegas Speedway for 3 days for it's owners to use? None other then Dodge! 1300 Viper owners will be at the Venetian, 650 Cars! Awesome Event and if you buy the Viper you can attend the next one!Jay Leno was the entertainment last time it was in Vegas! Lots of stuff planned for this year. You get to drive all the Dodge SRT's also. I think after you drive the Snake for a day it will answer your question as to wether your a Viper Guy or not!

Well the toy box has grown. This reptile has found a new home. It also came with a bonus. upon getting it checked out I was told that the previous owner had headers, hi-flo cats, and a Corsa track exhaust. I do not know what else was modified but it checked out perfect. I transfered the 7/70 warranty today and had a friend at the dealer pull all the records for me. It is a different car to drive as it truly is a factory race car. It will wag it's tail easily and demands respect.
