John - there are MANY people that attend events that do not post very much. Please don't assume that the responsed refflect that only a couple dozen peopel will be attending. As far as the dates go there is a fairly significant percentage of members that are retired and are not concerned with weekend to weekend dates. Only using a week's vacation will effect decisions of the larger group of us still working. Even though we'd rather (and will) only take a week off, we would still rather attend only a few days of the event than travel on July 4th Holiday weekend.

We will not be able to attend this event, but if we were able I would prefer weekend to weekend.

As we have discussed before, I feel that the weekend to weekend is far more applicable to most people with their vacation schedules. Having the two weekends to travel makes a big difference for most. Holiday weekends are usually busier regardless of where you are traveling (and gas prices are usually higher). Moving it back a week and making it weekend to weekend might bring more people to the event. By the end of June, school will be out for all kids, so that shouldn't interfere.

The hotels should try to be more accommodating with the rates, especially if you are booking a great number of rooms. For Dream Cruise, we booked 400 room nights at the Wingate and that isn't counting the other two hotels. That is a lot of booked nights for a hotel. It doesn't have to be at a fancy hotel......something that is comfortable works. Keep in mind that at these events, we don't spend much time in the hotels other than sleeping, so how many of the fancy amenities do we really need vs. a better rate? Just some food for thought.

I'll be there regardless!

Since I am retired either date will workk for us, but for those still working I suspect that the weekends for traveling work the best. I would try to avoid the holiday though. We will be there no matter what dates you decide.

Rebecca and I are only going to use one week's vacation. WE would rather be there for a few day's of the event, than not be there at all. Are there others that would want to arrive a few days before the event, stay at another hotel (cheaper than the $159.00 a night the Marriott wants, cruise on our own for a few days then stay for the first few days of the event? I am absolutely NOT trying to undermine the event. I am thankful Carl, John and others are planning what will surely be a great event. We just can not take more than a week's vacation next year for a Prowler event. Once we get an idea of how many people may want to go early and travel on weekends, we can find hotel to accomodate our stay at the beginnning of the event.

Please message me or post here if you are interested in doing that.
