Here's the deal. Next summer Cathi and I, and most likely a few others will be revisiting Route 66. Plans are very vague right now, but most likely incorporating the 4th of July, and probably 8 or 9 days on Route 66. Starting point for us will most likely be the real end of the Mother Road (the intersection of Olympic Blvd. and Lincoln Blvd., not Santa Monica as is generally thought) and then traveling the bulk of the Mother Road to the start in Chicago. Thinking maybe something along the lines of the Power Tour, jump in and join us when you want, and leave when you want. Wanted to see if anyone else is interested in joining us. Traveling this road is not for everyone, and a lot of folks don't understand the attraction, but if you want to experience life as it used to be, when interstate travel actually took you thru small town America, you have to do it at least once. So....anyone interested? Want to see what life on the open road used to be like? Love to see a big group join us and experience life as it used to be. |

"Here's the deal. Next summer,,,,,," Jim & Cathi > its already summer here in Arizona,,,,are you talking 'this' summer, or next summer of 2009? We'd be interested if 2009. Our 2008 Colorado Prowler event and subsequent trip to Wyoming,,,,puts us back home and back to work on July 1. Would be impossible to get another week's vacation after returning for one week. Sounds like a great trip,,,,wish we could make it.... |

Curt, saw your post. We are going to try to make it. Glad you posted it. I always think about it after the fun run is over! That section of Route 66 is one of the best kept and scenic sections. Thanks for posting it.

We would be interested in jumping in for a portion of your run. Route 66 went thru St. Louis. A portion of the original route actually passes within a mile of my home in West St. Louis County. This is now Missouri State Hiway 100. Keep us posted on how this develops. Bob Leonard Ntprowl |

I'm interested in the trip. It was Hollywood that extended the 66 down to the Santa Monica pier for the sake of the movie. Some Route 66 fans smile and wink and let it be that way. So you could start at the Pier also and it would still be(semi)legit. Do you plan to let the group stop for lunch. On my last trip with you I was still driving at midnight to catch up because I have to eat. |

The more I think about this the more I like it. I am thinking we might drive out west and then come back Rt.66 with you guys. OR We could start at the eastern end of Rt. 66 and work our way west and meet you, if there is some interest. We have done parts of it already, of course. It would be awesome to do it with a bunch of Prowlers. I would imagine we could get some press coverage (which means a Canadaian or even two might want to jump in) lol |

Roger, as I recall there was some concern about eating with the "common folks", some talk about checking something out and catching up with the group "just down the road", and then a solo trip to the fancy steak house unbeknownst to the others. Personally, I blame it all on the Gatlins. They were the ones that screwed the schedule up by flying back out of San Francisco instead of continuing the rest of the way down the coast with us! Awfully nervy of them I thought. Always thinking of themselves, LOL Glad you are thinking of joining us. Larry says leave the GPS at home though. |

Is it going to be summer 2008 or 2009? Would love to go, but 4th of July has many local family gatherings planned, also will be more difficult to find hotel accommodations due to holiday weekend. Would be interested if the timing works out. |

Scott, is it possible your car is a Woodward, which is Red over Black. They made them in 2000. The top color of Red was sometime mistaken for orange, especially under certain street lights. IF you have a Woodward there should be a pinstripe around the car and dead center on the trunk lid will be a tiny number with Dr. Ru's signature. You almost need a magnifying glass to see it. It could pass for a Chinese symbol. The orange color did not come out until 2001. All of that aside, congratulations on your purchase and glad you found us here at POA. ------------------ |

Plan it and they will come......or at least I will. Glad to hear 2009, could not make 2008. We have not cruised route 66 for over 20 years, would love to do it again. |

ed No it is orange over black. it is a 2000 also. i was told by the dealer that it belonged to a doctor out of Chicago area ,who in 2001 had the orange put on along with the silver PAINTED pinstipe to split the colors. he did have a matching trailer also but the dealer could not give him what he wanted for it so he kept it. it also has the hard top with it.(orange of course)The dr. traded the prowler in on a Viper. |

Gotcha. Last year in a local parade we were almost at a standstill and an older guy approached us and told me his son lived in Blue Ash, OH and just bought an orange over black. I know a lot of folks thought the 99 Red was orange, when I had one and that is why I thought you might have a Woodward. I shouldn't have doubted you. I would ask for forgiveness but Alley Cat says that is against POA policy. lol |

Just bringing this back to the top for anyone interested. Tentative plans are to leave California on June 24, chicago on June 30, and arrive in Santa Monica on July 8. Looks like at least a half dozen for the long haul, and hopefully we get folks join in as they can. If your interested let me know, and I will keep you informed as things get locked in. |

is the rest of route 66 in better shape than the section that we drove when poa was in tulsa for the digging up of the 57 plymouth? there were pot holes that you could drop a 5 gallon bucket in and not see much. |
