I have not found that issue.

As for the BF Goodrich tires...I wanted to put them on (great tire), but there is a small issue. The front and rear tire tread patterns are radically different. The front you will need KDW2 and the rear are KDW (standard tread). The KDW2 have that funky flame pattern.

My wife just called and said the tires have arrived at the house. That was quick.. two days. I went by a custom shop in Charlotte near my office yesterday and ask about them mounting the tires. The guy said he would do it for $25 per rim. Seems reasonable.. He did say that I should have let him give me a quote before I ordered them online. He said he thought he could have beat the price. I told him what size tire, what brand, and the price of $215. He said that was a killer price and he couldn't not have beat it. So I was happy with myself.

When the spacers come in I'll be headed back to the shop to get four new tires installed. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info. Ordered a complete set and having them sent direct to the Dealership for their Prowler Tech to mount, balance and do an alignment. I just need to make sure to remember to take the wheel caps off myself (carefully).

Make sure when you have your tires mounted that they align the dot on the tire with the dot on the rim. This will reduce the amount of weight need to balance the assembly. I think the one on the tire is the high spot and the one on the rim is the low spot.

I took off all the weights before I took them in. I didn't want them gouging the chrome with a screw driver. They charged me $ 30 a wheel and did a good job. I didn't drive it so I hope they put the correct tire on each rim so the sensors are still correct.
Where I repo they have a tire shop but the guy didn't trust the equipment with the 20 inch rims and was afraid he would scratch them. He told me his COST was a little over $ 300 a tire. I don't recall the exact amount but it was $ 302-310 range. That was cost, not retail.
I never heard that about the dot. I wish I would have known that. Where is the dot on the rim?

Ed, thanks for the heads up, lacquer thinner works the best with removing wheel weights. Little or no effort needed. Just a couple of applications. I also tried WD40 and Goof off and they work...but way to much effort is needed.

Thanks so much Spoons!

Hey Ed!...Let me know where you got your's mounted...Have you driven it yet? If so, what did you think of the ride/noise(if any)?

Bob, Bob Summerell (?) tire at Winton Rd and I-275 across from the Cracker Barrel, down in the hole behind Frisch's on the S.W. corner. It is diagonal across from Forest Fair Mall, or whatever the latest name is for that Mall where OUTDOOR WORLD is located.
I haven't had it out yet. I forgot to take the keys to the rental garage when I remounted them. I need to pick up the center caps from Dick to put the spinners back on it also.

So, I'm all fired up to buy this closeout when I called my local Tire Rack installer to discuss if he can handle the installation. We got to talking about Tire Rack's road hazard program. The installer tells me their program is for the birds. While he's a big proponent of Tire Rack, they're using a 3rd-party provider for the hazard package. To claim against your damaged tire requires that you, 1)Buy a new replacement tire (tough to impossible on a closeout) 2) Ship the defective or damaged tire to the 3rd party's location and they then determine if the damage could have been fixed or not. The installer has a customer with a tire that's in this state of limbo for nearly 30 days unresolved and she, too, had to buy the new tire. He told me he's not able to petition on the customer's behalf because he doesn't take a cut on the road hazard payment. Tire Rack takes the payment, not the installer. I'm concerned that a bargain on the closeout might, in the long run, will be risky because of the road hazard hassle. Has anyone run into this issue?

I never buy those warranties since I typically find out they are handle by 3rd party and you have to "jump through to many hoops" in order to get your claim approved. With tires I figure if I have a tire go bad, I will not be in the situation to check on warranty and have then ship me out a new tire. Usually when you have an emergency you will be paying full price and will not have time to monkey around with warranty BS.

Warranties? I have never used one. I wouldn't be able to find the paperwork if I had a problem anyway.

Got the tires quickly. Today went to have them mounted at a Tire Rack preferred installer, Mr. Tire, near my house. They said they wouldn't do it because the guy was afraid he'd damage the rim without even looking at the wheels. Went down the street to Bob Summerell Tire and they did them for $40/wheel compared to the Mr. Tire quoted price of $20/wheel.

Now waiting to get them back.....

Well, Mine finally got here. There were only 5 left in stock when I ordered them. I'm holding off to mount them, but I sure do like the tread pattern. My original run flats may be up for sale soon, so if your'e interested, let me know. They have 11,000 miles on them, and are in great shape. I was going to buy the front ones too, but they weren't on sale. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get them, put them on, and see what this "wonderful" ride is all about.
I did get the trailer out, hooked it up and cruised with it over to the body shop who painted it for me. He wanted pics to blow up and put on his office wall. He said he got more work out of just having it in the shop.
Isn't owning one of these great cars just the Kat's azz? (pun intended).
Breathe in, Breathe out, Life is good.

And PGPD, Ihope you got the other shift knob. I sent the check finally for mine. I forget I even buy so much for this car.

I got all four tires installed on Saturday. It look the shop two and a half hours to swap the tires out after they started. It was a long day but they took their time and everything went smoothly.

Pantera - Thank you for the quick shipping on the spacers.

The new tires look nice and the spacers on the backend make the rear end look beafy. I like it!

The ride is better with the non-runflats. I wouldn't go back.
