I was surprised you could still get a trailer hitch from Chrysler. I just ordered it and the prices and shipping aren't bad. Ordered from here http://www.mopar-parts-dealer.com/parts.htm Estimated Shipping was around $30.00 RECEIVER-TRAILER TOW |

When I checked my local dealer, they wanted list price $350.00. I try not to be impulsive and jump on the first price especially if I don't need it right away. I can almost justify my Internet costs by what I save except I buy more things than I would without the Internet! I should by stock in UPS and Fed-EX. |

If you end up ordering it - have it powder coated black before you install (or have it installed) it. It makes it look much nicer and helps to hide it. ------------------ |

Silly me, I assumed it came powder coated! I know the ones I see on the Internet have a big MoPar decal on them and that has to go. My Kat is black so do I power coat it flat, shiny or what? I do not have a transmission cover yet either, do they all fit under the trailer hitch or is it either, or? I have access to both sandblasting and bead blasting equipment at work so it is no problem stripping them. I have see trailer hitches that were powder coated peel at the welds. They aren't prepared properly. I also read about drilling a couple of 1 1/8 holes. If this is true why didn't they come drilled already since about 20 percent were sold with trailers? |

I know someone with a black house. I'll see what he paid to have it powdercoated. |

quote: Very few were sold with a trailer. There are less than 1400 trailers so that works out to 11 or 12 % approximately and most of them were not purchased at the dealer at the time the car was purchased. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 03-14-2011 at 08:31 PM |

I can not speak for all transmission cooler covers but the one I have (Eric Wolf's) is under the hitch. I had to drop the cooler to put the cover over it and then I bolted it back in place. I didn't remove the stickers before I took the hitch to the powder coater. He took care of the prep, so I don't know all that he did, just that it had a beautiful finish when I picked it up (I think he only charged me like $25 too, if I remember right). As for the question of the color, I have seen some not coated black and they aren't hidden as well as the ones that are - of course you can choose any color you wish |
