I watched several Prowlers on auction TV programs that were refered to as high mileage Prowlers. These cars have mileage under 20k miles. Why do the appraisers refer to Prowlers with 20k miles as high mileage? It's almost as if they expect a Prowler to have 9-14k miles. Why do you think they do this? I wonder which part on the car they think is worn so badly as to be refered to as high mileage. When someone says high mileage I expect to see a car with over a 100k miles. Comments?  When I was looking for a Prowler some of the owner/sellers said 14k miles was about right for a "Prowler", like more than that would be excessive. Surely we would all agree that the Prowler is a unique auto, and thus should have terms that are unique to Prowlers as opposed to other autos. So, a high mileage Prowler would be considerably different than a high mileage Dodge Charger (example). When "high" mileage is stated, it should be compared to other Prowlers, and not other used cars. What might we guess is the median miles on the Prowlers? Less than that value could be called "low" mileage, and thus, more than the median could be called "high" mileage. Just my thoughts. |

If it goes over 130,000, it's worthless junk.At that point you need to put deceptive emblems on it to try to trick people into thinking it has value. |

Why is it worthless junk ??? That's a bit harsh , granted its not worth as much as a car with 10k miles ! But it still has a value and the owner has had loads of enjoyment from it , or another way is he has had his monies worth |

Awww come on boys this is no fun for the rest of us, but I can imagine that someone once said that any Prowler with excessive miles is worthless and it's coming back to bite him now. |

If I were in the market for a used car..... I would think of anything under 10K miles per year as low mileage. I would think of anything with around 18K to 22K per year as average mileage. I would think of anything with over 25K per year as higher mileage. My 2000 Prowler is now 13 years old and it has just under 38,000 miles on it today. This is an average of 2923 miles per year or 243 miles each month, or 8 miles a day. Yes I know it is shameful that my car has been driven so much but I have enjoyed every mile of it. When I am done enjoying this Prowler, I will likely have the opportunity to go out and buy a well preserved ultra low mileage car and do it all over again. I totally agree with Alrtg I had a friend who as a child always kept his dinky cars in there box immaculate . I saw him 20 years later he boosted that they were now worth over £3000 With a smug smile I commented that with his job he could make £3000 in 3 weeks , yet he had lost all those years as a child not playing with the toy cars ?? He looked a lot less smug after thinking about my statement ! I think the same theory applies ...... |

Absolutely, Carl....Take your Prowler out and drive it as much as you can....You'll never tire of it and when the wheels start coming off of it, sell it as a "parts" car if you have to and buy one of the many garage queens that others have been hanging on to for people like us.... We'll buy their "low mileage" cars and the fun will start all over again!

I had a 99 Red and put over 50,000 miles on it. I sold it and bought its twin with about 2000 miles on it for about $ 2000 more than I sold the first one. I have almost 60,000 on the Candy and there is one for sale here on POA now with very low mileage. I am not going to live long enough to make $ 100,000 on a Prowler and at that point I won't really need another $100,000 anyway. The friends we have met through POA are worth more than a Million $ to us. Keep one tucked away with low mileage in case I need another one down the line. Seems odd to me that some of Prowler owners obsessed about milage I have been into the classic VW camper scene for years , I go to lots of shows, festivals etc. Most of the conversation and admiration , is about what extras are on the van and what adventures and experiences owners have enjoyed , no one has ever asked the milage lol

Mine turned 37,000 miles the last time out. Have owned it almost 15 years (July will be 15) and for the average mileage on a Prowler some might say that is high mileage. But if you look at a collector car most insurance policies have a 5,000 mile limit, so if I drove the limit every year it would have 75,000 miles, so about 1/2 the allowable limit But several Prowlers have less than 10,000 miles and people think more than that is high mileage. IN MY OPNION that is a car no one has enjoyed. The BEST PART of owning a Prowler is the other owners. Go to an event and it is like a family reunion. How many cars can you buy and your vacations are where it wants to go, meet people from all over the world. Get people to help when you have a problem that you don't know YET. The car is the attraction, the people make it worth while. drive it and have fun, why leave it for the next guy to enjoy. There was an Orange one that sold at the Mecum Auction last week and I heard it sold for 23,000, so the real value is enjoying it. ------------------

I was some what of a car collector until about 12 years ago. Then I decided that if I wasn't going to drive it I should get a poster. So I sold off what I didnt drive and drive my GSX and 66 Vette often. Now I've added the Prowler and I intend on driving it often also. I've already put 2000 miles on it in two months. Of course part of the deal is my wife can drive the Prowler and she loves it. She cant hardly push the clutch on the other stuff, and rarely can find first gear. (does lots of 3rd gear starts)But the Prowler is a new car. It starts and runs cold and hot, it has AC, its automatic, the brakes work excellent. Lots to say for modern technology. The more miles I put on the Prowler, the better deal I got! |

I might get slapped for this but I would rather have a car with some miles. Say 3-5K a year or more. Ever single modern car that I have ever seen "preserved" with extremely low miles ends up with bad hose rot and all sorts of other troubles. My highest mileage prowler left the garage with ~68K on it, my current one is just about to click over 50K and still runs just fine. Only real service history is for cosmetics and the usual fluids. |
