This is the info card the family is distributing. Appropriate isn't it? Stay Calm and Fish On. Claire asked for a rough number of Prowler members will be attending so they can accommodate. This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 03-05-2015 at 05:39 PM |

In memory of Marc Scarbeary and showing how he loved performance. I went back and dug up my DVD video archive and uploaded the video footage I had on Marc Scarbeary to YouTube. This was during the time Dean from ProwlerPro was unveiling his 5.0 Super Stroker engine. Marc at the time was looking to swap out his nitrous driving 3.5 Liter Road Warrior engine to this upcoming 5.0 Super Stroker engine Dean was breaking in at Moab Utah. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6P2WKQtb1g

Thanks for continuing to share the memories. I still can't get over the fact that he's gone. That's the problem with friends living a long ways away. You think that they are only a phone call, email of trip away. It doesn't sink in. Spent yesterday catching up with a lot of old friends from around the country at Autorama. This made seeing them that much more important. So glad that we were able to make the Smokies event and catch up with old Prowler friends. Life's too short.....I'm sure Marc would tell us to enjoy. Leaving a light at Woodward will never be quite the same. |

Thanks for posting the links Dan. Brings back many memories of Marc, and in general the good times I had when I had my Silver Bullet. Got me to search for posts from Marc and I in the same thread. http://www.prowleronline.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=simplesearch&SearchIn=ALL&ForumChoice=ALL&SearchTerms=Marc&BooleanAND=YES&SearchDate=ALL&SearchUser=jd2ksilver&ExactName=no&F ile=temp-2457089-140644-HB75.cgi&Total=75&StartAt=A:000002 Hope this came through. If you take some time to browse it you can see a glimpse of what times were like in the beginning days of the POA. And for sure you can read Marc's humor and good guy mentality. The day it blew the engine like a Nascar runner. . From that day on Marc was blackballed for a long time getting in anybody's car. But that event introduced me to Marc, Bob and CJ, and the prowler family of great people. Man what good times. This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 03-07-2015 at 02:08 PM |

I didn’t grow up with all of the silver screen heroes of the west as my dad did and always spoke highly of. The nobility and elegance of Roy Rodgers, Jim Bowie, The Lone Ranger, the characters of John Wayne and the like and the stories of Louie L'Amore; but I always had an image in my head of what it would be like to have one of them as my friend. Marc turned out to be that Cowboy. I first met Marc in 2004 during my very first Woodward Dream Cruise, and our friendship grew quicker then the smoke which billowed from his tires as he broke loose and lit up the pavement. Before I knew it, he was referring to me as his Little Brother in a funny squeaky voice and it stuck. He always had a huge smile on his face, which was accentuated by his long mustache. In fact, now that I think back, I don’t think I have ever seen Marc without a smile; not even for a second. Even when he was pulled over by the officer he did a pretty nice burnout in front of on Woodward Avenue. He was very respectful, but he never stopped smiling. His smile was especially evident whenever he was behind the wheel of his kat. The faster he drove, the bigger his smile grew; it was as if it was controlled by the accelerator. He had to have racing fuel in his veins. At the beginning of the week, during that event, a few of us stopped off for ice cream after dinner and while we were standing in line, a lady came over boasting and drooling over the Prowlers. She was saying how much she really loved the looks of them. Then, in a very flirty and inquisitive voice, she asked “...I do have one question though, I especially love that PURPLE one! Who is, Mr. CAT, to YOU?!!!” Marc’s eyes lit right up as he smoothly tilted his head down so that his trademark cowboy hat slowly hid his now beat red face. I was able to peer around the brim of his hat and could see that he still was grinning ear to ear. For the rest of the week, we all called him “Mr. CAT, to YOU” in that same sultry tone and he turned that same shade of red every time. He was also a really big sport when the karaoke DJ called his name unexpectedly to sing “It’s Raining Men” at the restaurant we were dining at that night on Woodward. I didn’t think he was going to go through with it, but when he was called, he went right up there sang his heart out and had a lot of fun with it, smiling the whole time. That whole week was filled with endless stories and memories from which I will forever cherish. We would always reminisce about them for years to come. Marc was someone great to talk to and we always had some nice conversations. No matter how much time would pass between our chats, we would just pick it up again like it was only the day before. Whether it was about cars, family, work or fishing, mainly cars and fishing, I would always leave the conversation with a smile on my face. He just had that warmth about him. He would always try to lure me to visit him to go fishing too. He is what a member of our Prowler Family is all about and I feel so incredibly lucky to have met him. I was hit pretty hard when I was told he passed, the shock really took its course. Now every time I think of some of those cherished memories, I am overcome with a great sadness and feel my heart crawl into my throat even though I find it still hard to believe that Marc is gone. You will be missed my friend… A True Gentleman... A Legendary Cowboy... My, Big Brother. |

Dan, I'm pretty sure that picture was taken inside the Rapid City Chrysler dealership where Marc had taken his Prowler for transmission repairs during the Crazy Horse Tour 2000. They were great folks to deal with and were a co-sponsor of the event.

Have been thinking about Marc a lot and all the fun times we had. Marc was a Colorado Avalanche fan. I am a Detroit Red Wing fan. He and his Prowler owner friend Alex were always "harassing" me about the Wings. Shortly before the Prowler event, the two teams were playing each other. He, Alex and I made a bet. If the Avalanche won, I had to wear their t-shirt. If the Wings won, they had to wear a Wings t-shirt. Here is the result:
