Good video. Really entertaining guy. But a good reason not to use the prowler store fuel pump. I did not have near the difficulty getting old parts off when I did one. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005361.html Since we did this one Jefferson Automotive has made an ever easier replacement. I would highly recommend using it instead of the Prowler Store fuel pump. |

quote: Look I understand the long standing and well documented hatred, but what in the heck does getting the old parts off have to do with the new pump? If you, or anyone else for that matter had a hard time, it certainly wasn't because of the new pump. Jefferson Auto's and your link requires the identical procedure to install. He had a hard time of it but he made it work, which good mechanics do. As a retort: As far as the video goes, excellent work. At least it is out there now and maybe some people can use it to help fix their car on their own regardless of who's pump they use and save themselves a few bucks. I'm sure most people appreciate it(the video) out there. |

“Wow, a lot of unnecessary work to install an overpriced fuel pump from the Prowler Store. We now have a drop in pump assembly that doesn't require any of that. Just remove the old pump and exchange the gauge float and drop the new pump in. And our pump is not a cheap china knock off, it’s a Walbro made in America and Less money”. Unfortunately I don't have it on the website yet This message has been edited by Tom Mills on 05-21-2021 at 10:23 AM |

Don't know why I can't reply. When I attempt to post it, says internal server error. Dodge guy, First let me point out ours was done 5 years ago. We salvaged parts from a mopar minivan fuel pump assembly thanks to PGPG42 tracking it down. We did not have to remove the inlet/outlet tubes from the "tophat" piece which this guy had a lot of trouble with and then he used some O rings he provided himself as he was concerned about the seal when he reconnected them. It took two people to remove with needles to to pry. Now whether he really needed to remove them from the tophat piece is another story, maybe not. He appeared to briefly read the instructions so I'll assume that's what it says. We didn't, just disconnected them at the pump housing. So NO, it was not the "identical procedure to install". And yes, you do have to remove some parts to reuse so that is "what the heck does getting the old parts off have to do with the new pump". Depending on which pump assembly you use dictates what parts you have to remove and reuse. As far as the connector, there was a tool included in the pump to remove the wire connectors from plug and exchange them. Very easy exchange. Since we did our replacement, Tom Mills produced a plug and play replacement. I have not done one of his new units so I can't report on it. But I would emphatically trust him 100%. Do I hate the Prowler Store? No, not hate. I have no respect for them; they're an opportunistic company that blatantly copies other's work and steals intellectual property. That is my opinion. After watching the video I left a reply in the comment section with a link to Tom Mill's fuel pump and the POA. I have watched may hours of South Main Auto and Eric O is a really good guy that I respect. |

quote: Dru, appreciate the reply, as well as from Tom. I'm not saying that either, and I just like the fact there are people out there doing something to keep some of these cars on the road. It seems like it's easier to find parts for a Ford from the 40's than it is a Prowler lately. |

Great educational video. It did seem like a lot dinging around with certain parts that may break if you don't take your time. |
