Good video. Really entertaining guy. But a good reason not to use the prowler store fuel pump. I did not have near the difficulty getting old parts off when I did one. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005361.html Since we did this one Jefferson Automotive has made an ever easier replacement. I would highly recommend using it instead of the Prowler Store fuel pump.

Excellent posts by two docs. It was an interesting video, watching how it was done.

Look I understand the long standing and well documented hatred, but what in the heck does getting the old parts off have to do with the new pump? If you, or anyone else for that matter had a hard time, it certainly wasn't because of the new pump.

Jefferson Auto's and your link requires the identical procedure to install. He had a hard time of it but he made it work, which good mechanics do.

If you want to make disparaging remarks I'm all for it, but at least have them be relevant. Don't just naysay for the sake of it.

As a retort:
I have to say, as to whether one is better than the other, looks like TPS has the leg up because it is plug and play with no wire removal required. Just pops in with a seemingly brand new connector. Again, just an opinion so no one needs to get butt hurt. I am sure with very little effort Jefferson Auto can do the same thing.

As far as the video goes, excellent work. At least it is out there now and maybe some people can use it to help fix their car on their own regardless of who's pump they use and save themselves a few bucks. I'm sure most people appreciate it(the video) out there.

“Wow, a lot of unnecessary work to install an overpriced fuel pump from the Prowler Store. We now have a drop in pump assembly that doesn't require any of that. Just remove the old pump and exchange the gauge float and drop the new pump in. And our pump is not a cheap china knock off, it’s a Walbro made in America and Less money”. Unfortunately I don't have it on the website yet

If I ever need a pump, I will definitely go to you. But it is very informative video and appreciate for taking the time to show some of us non-tech incline.

Don't know why I can't reply. When I attempt to post it, says internal server error.
Dodge guy, First let me point out ours was done 5 years ago. We salvaged parts from a mopar minivan fuel pump assembly thanks to PGPG42 tracking it down. We did not have to remove the inlet/outlet tubes from the "tophat" piece which this guy had a lot of trouble with and then he used some O rings he provided himself as he was concerned about the seal when he reconnected them. It took two people to remove with needles to to pry. Now whether he really needed to remove them from the tophat piece is another story, maybe not. He appeared to briefly read the instructions so I'll assume that's what it says. We didn't, just disconnected them at the pump housing. So NO, it was not the "identical procedure to install". And yes, you do have to remove some parts to reuse so that is "what the heck does getting the old parts off have to do with the new pump". Depending on which pump assembly you use dictates what parts you have to remove and reuse. As far as the connector, there was a tool included in the pump to remove the wire connectors from plug and exchange them. Very easy exchange.

Since we did our replacement, Tom Mills produced a plug and play replacement. I have not done one of his new units so I can't report on it. But I would emphatically trust him 100%. Do I hate the Prowler Store? No, not hate. I have no respect for them; they're an opportunistic company that blatantly copies other's work and steals intellectual property. That is my opinion.
I will say this guy's video is very entertaining and interesting to watch. He is correct, the locking ring is an absolute PITA to get started. You keep thinking you're cross threading it. Took much longer to get it on than it should have. And in spite of what he says, yes you can get a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve on the fuel rail under the hood. You'll look at it and swear you can't but it attaches. I agree, I'm glad someone posted a video. That's the reason I posted my post 5 or 6 years ago so people could see how to do it and save $100's of dollars. It's not that difficult.
I don't necessarily want people who see this post to think the prowler store is the best/only place to get a fuel pump replacement. It isn't. Tom Mills/ Jefferson Automotive is a much better source in my opinion. Perhaps your experience is different.

After watching the video I left a reply in the comment section with a link to Tom Mill's fuel pump and the POA. I have watched may hours of South Main Auto and Eric O is a really good guy that I respect.

Dru, appreciate the reply, as well as from Tom. I'm not saying that either, and I just like the fact there are people out there doing something to keep some of these cars on the road. It seems like it's easier to find parts for a Ford from the 40's than it is a Prowler lately.

Great educational video. It did seem like a lot dinging around with certain parts that may break if you don't take your time.
