After conversing with Tom, he may want to keep this limited to 7 units. I will confirm with him next week as he is out of town. If that is case AND, I repeat, AND he takes on this new order, then we will have met the minimum number to make this happen. Again, this is Tom's call to push this purchase through. He will make a firm decision after he gets back from his trip AND reaches out to the hardware vendors. With this run, there will on be 11 units + 1 prototype unit in the market. 1 @ Larry Mayes ( WildCat ) Right now on commitments, we are at Onecatdog : 1 unit 8 units so far. Any addition inquiries will have to be decided and approved by Tom. Considering his work load, it it is unlikely he will commit to a higher number of units. Keep in mind all, this project has a long lead time. You will need to be extremely patient as only one unit can be made at a time. There is only one mold for the top and one for the bottom. Cure times are slow and tideous. And I can tell you this. If Tom removes the panel and does not like what he sees, he will destroy the panel and start again. If that happens; everyone behind that panel gets pushed back. There is no way to avoid this. Patience is paramount on this project. Once, and if, the project begins, Tom and I will give a once a week update on the project progression, NOT on individual orders. It is simply too time consuming to micromanage the amount of work involved on each order. The first unit will be the most time consuming of the order. PLEASE NOTE : The units WILL NOT be in a finished color. It is important all understands this. You will need to have a body shop spray in your finished top coat. Additionally, when, and if, Tom provides a unit cost, this unit cost is ex-works Mishawaka Indiana 46545. This means it is available for pick up at his shipping door non crated or packed. However, Tom and I are looking at a couple of different packing and shipping methods for these panels as they are very large. Installation : the unit cost does not include installation. However, there a few of the potential buyers who have offered their guidance. This subject will be moved to a group email over the weekend. Well, that is the latest updates on this wonderful project. Thank you to all who have come forward to show their high interest in this very rare opportunity. In closing, if you are interested in this purchase, please show your interest in this thread. Have a great weekend to all. This message has been edited by adacus on 09-04-2021 at 09:57 AM |

One request from me. I have a TGF spoiler and I will fit it. But if this project does get the go ahead, I would not want the holes drilled on the top or underside for the stock third brake light please! |

Thank you Larry. I’ve seen the pictures of Steve’s. Hence I will fit the spoiler but I do not want the holes drilled for the stock third brake light. I currently have the TGF blanking panel on mine and have always disliked it. But not enough to get it welded up and repaint the trunk! |

09/08 : Update Tom is currently out of town. In this next update, Tom is checking on hardware availability. Here is his email DD 09/01/2021 " I am busy rest of this week and going to a national Studebaker meet in Indianapolis next Wednesday and will be back on the 11th and then I will see what I can find out from the ( hardware*) vendors. If they work out I might be able to get a lid made before I leave for Florida the end of October. The Prowler I have lined up should be able to get here after the Prowler meet in west Virginia. Maybe can get something done on the install before I go. Will know more the week of the 13th." * added by me. With that, please be patient guys and gals and start saving your funds. Again please note, this is still a TENTATI VE project for Tom to undertake. If your in WV for the meet and you see Tom, Steve, or Larry Mayes, go over and introduce yourself and take a look at their split panel rear deck lid. So let's be patient, we are getting there. Big kudos thank you to Tom for taking on this possible run on these deck lids. Thank you kind sir. Like I mentioned, this may be the final run of these deck lids due to the limited number of hard tops in the field. Everyone have a great time WV. It is beautiful country out there. If ya have time, take a trip down to Williamsburg or Virginia Beach, VA. I grew up there. Safe and happy causing to everyone.

Update I have Talked with my contact at the fiberglass shop, and they are receptive to doing the project, but they have a situation. There is a shortage of the fiberglass material at this time. They are only able to get two rolls at a time, so they don’t even have enough material for their own products and the price per roll is up from 150 a roll to 600 and I am sure the resin price is up also. They are hoping that this will get back to “normal” at some time soon. So, I will keep in touch with them and maybe I can get them to do one in December so I can get started on the project. |

Thanks for the update Tom Like you say let’s hope everything to get back to some sort of normality. I’m in no hurry, this year is sort of a right off anyway. I will be more than happy if the project goes ahead. |

Thanks for the update. As long as Tom is willing to do them I’ll be there waiting in line. It’s a shame prices have increased so much. May the fiberglass gods smile on this project & may the force be with Tom. |

We also will wait patiently and stay committed to purchasing. Hopefully supply and demand will if not soon, then eventually return to some form of normalcy. |
