Then he should be locked in a room full of victims of abuse angry women. Also JMO. Why the he{{ did she eventually marry him. He's done it once and is highly likely to do it again. I don't understand some abused women who keep going back for more. http://www.tmz.com/2014/09/08/ray-rice-elevator-knockout-fiancee-takes-crushing-punch-video/ |

Rich she most likely forced him to marry her after this. If she would have pressed charges, his career would have been over and maybe did some jail time. Now he will keep playing and she will get half of everything. This message has been edited by garysss on 09-08-2014 at 11:56 AM |

Garyss is likely right here ... and just saw the video myself, but no audio, unfortunately. NO EXCUSE, but she was the aggressor physically first and second it seems, and we don't know what she was also saying in the elevator to excite him. NOT condoning, but women are NOT the only victims of domestic violence ... NFL should have taken a firmer stance. |

With a $35,000,000.00 7 year contract ($15 mil guaranteed) I doubt the Ravens would do anything even if he dug up and spit on Art Modell.... The adoration of athletes, politicians and celebrities by simple minded sheeple allows them to get away with most anything. Sad for our society This message has been edited by bjprowler on 09-08-2014 at 12:56 PM |

Ravens sack Ray Rice after video emerges of elevator punch
“We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today,” the league said in its statement. When the new video emerged, a series of tweets from players around the league shows that whatever support Rice has went up in smoke after the second cleat dropped. "This piece of sh-- needs to be out of the league. Period," tweeted former Saints and Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, a player's union representative during his career. "This video makes me sick to my stomach," Denver Broncos defensive tackle Terrance Knighton said in one of several tweets, including one in which he said Rice belongs in prison, not on an NFL football field. "He could've killed that girl. They need to sports science the force of that punch. NFL players are STRONG... Like very strong," tweeted former all-pro center LeCharles Bentley. Other players directed their anger at the league and Goodell, who suspended Rice for a mere two games, including Sunday's opening day loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Goodell later said he "didn't get it right," and implemented a much tougher stance on domestic violence. "To say you got that wrong is an understatement. Very disappointed in you. Wow...unbelievable," wrote former linebacker and likely future Hall of Famer London Fletcher. "2 games. Disturbing," added Green Bay Packers guard T.J. Lang. Rice and Palmer married on March 28, one day after a grand jury indicted Rice on an aggravated assault charge. Rice avoided jail time by entering a pretrial diversionary program. "There are consequences when you make a mistake like that," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said at the time. "I stand behind Ray. He's a heck of a guy. He's done everything right since. He made a mistake. He's gonna have to pay a consequence. It's good for kids to understand it works that way. That's how it works. That's how it should be." The couple held a joint news conference in May, where Rice apologized and Palmer said the incident was partly her fault, to the alarm of domestic abuse counselors. The suspension handed down by the league, considerably shorter than other penalties doled out by the league for such transgressions as smoking marijuana, drew sharp criticism from advocates for victims of domestic abuse. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2014/09/08/newly-surfaced-video-shows-ray-rice-punching-fiancee/ This message has been edited by BeWare on 09-08-2014 at 02:16 PM |

I guess I disagree.....?
I assume that his contract does have some sort of clause that would allow for the suspension...but where does it end..

Whenever you are a public figure you are held with higher expectations. The kids whom idolized Ray Rice and want to grow up and be like him just received a lesson in life. With that said I agree on the suspension. |

This was his 6th year of 7 year contract for $35 million, $5 million a year. He has collected $25 million, but team doesn't have to pay this year or next now that they fired him. League suspension means he can't play anywhere in NFL. |

Ray Lewis was arrested for a murder years ago. He got a bronze statue. Go figure. For his punishment, Lewis received one year of probation and a $250,000 fine by the NFL. |

Prediction......the Rice marriage will last maybe 12-18 months. I see both of them blaming each other for the loss of the $37M contract and his Nike contract,,,and this going round-n-round with both of them arguing forever. jmo |

He's set for life with all that money, millions and millions and more millions of dollars. I have worked for 47 years now and he makes more playing one or two weeks than I made in my lifetime. Exactly why I can't watch these clowns anymore, I haven't watched a football, baseball or hockey game for years now. As usual they (him and her both) will somehow continue to rake in the millions. You go out and knock your girlfriend out on camera and see how long your ass sits in jail. Just my rant and 2 cents! |

Well she threw the first punch, so he was just defending himself. He will sue the NFL for punishing him twice for the same crime and get his job and salary back. Let's see how this plays out. They all knew what he did, but now that they see the video everything has changed. |
