As a few know I guess I will put here I had cataract surgery on right eye 5/24/24 & left eye 6/7/24 surgery went well & my eyesight for distance is perfect. Have to have readers to see to read Had to put Sue in respite care while I recovered and while in there was going to have roof put on the house. My last follow up appointment is on 25th but had planned on bringing Sue home after the roof was done this week. Friday was a normal day for her, she ate a decent lunch and I got her comfy in her recliner before I left. Saturday morning her breathing was shallow & low heart rate. She told nurse she wanted to go to ER. She had a DNR, the ER nurse called me as I was pulling out of the driveway after getting dressed. She said she probably wouldn’t make it through the day. It was less than 45 minutes from the 1st call that they were taking her to ER and me getting there. She had passed before I made it to the hospital. I’m thankful she didn’t suffer any more than she already had been. She looked like she was sleeping, no longer in pain, no suffering. 20 years diagnosed with Parkinson’s, the last 10 years she had declined & the last 4 years no longer able to walk. Poor judgment & some dementia. Parkinson’s is a cruel disease that takes brain cells, causing mobility issues to the point many are totally bed ridden & in late stages like her the dementia IMO. It was a Blessing she went while still able to transfer, sit up and we still went out some on her good days. It was difficult caring for her the past 7 years & retiring 5 years ago to stay home to be full time caregiver. I’ve had some good people & my daughter helping care for her & don’t know what I would have done without them. Thanks to those that have reached out I appreciate it. It wasn’t a big surprise other than she really was her same normal self as she has been for along time. No one is promised tomorrow She didn’t want a funeral so no plans at this point |

Larry, you are to be commended and admired for all the care and caring that you have done. I know it is your duty as a husband and I also know you went way way way beyond what a lot of men would have done. My hat is off to you sir. You did a fabulous job. I know it is a huge loss, but as you said, her suffering is finally over. The best of luck to you the rest of the way. I am proud of all you did and proud to call you a friend. GREAT JOB! |

Larry you are a good man. Till death do you part and brother you held up your end of the deal! The double edged sword analogy is very true. I’m very proud of you as well. You have my condolences my friend. I’ll be praying for you. Please if you need anything at all or just someone to talk to. You have my number and I’m available 24/7. I first met Larry and Sue in 2003, I think at an event in Columbus. I had Michael, and she and Sue Mills were so nice to my Son. Larry tried his best to teach me how to back up a Prowler trailer. Still need to work on that. Its a relief she went peacefully and you found her that way Larry. What everyone else here said.... You two were blessed to have each other and it showed in life and now, in death. Thank you for being an example of what a marriage, and a friendship should look like. We have so many memories and Karen pulled up some favorite pics. From WWDC, Deadwood, Route 66, biscuits and gravy at your house in Greenfield...and Sue was your great partner in crime for all of them and we are grateful. The group photo reminds me that so many of your friends traveling from far and wide to stopped by to say "Hey." "Our condolences, Larry. We are keeping the good thought for Sue and for you. We are sure sorry to hear this news but you did everything possible to make her life better. I know that she appreciated everything you did. You set the standard for just how to take care of a loved one. She could not have asked for a better husband or friend. May she rest in peace. |
