A friend just told me that he has had the upper front A frames replaced trying to get rid of a squeek. It is still there. Anyone know of anything that could cause this anoyance. (He's not a surfer) |

Try pressing on the facia where it comes together with the side piece just above the lower strut. My facia was loose on the drivers side and made a squeak when moving. Easy fix if that is it. |

I have heard my chassis twisting when I go into my driveway (uphill) a little sideways. |

I remember seeing posts about 9-10 months ago regarding the popping noise, but don't remember what it was. I've never experienced this in any of my cars although the most mileage I have on any one car is only a little over 1500. ------------------ |

I have a popping noise on my Y2K Yellow with 400 miles. The noise has gone from random to all the time. I hear it driving through my neighborhood and in the driveway. Once my speed increases I'm unable to hear it. Very annoying when cruising at low speeds. Will be spending some time this weekend trying to find the source. |

I replaced the anti swaybar bushings on Rogers 99 Prowler. That cured the squeak for about 7,000 miles. Michael J. Challis - PT Cruiser Club President and Founder www.ptcruiserclub.org |

Yes, there was a whole snoot full of chat about this 10 months ago, but I think there is a difference between a squeak, and the snapping or popping, or creaking sounds from the front end. The latter you notice when driving slowly over a bump or even backing out of your garage. The posts back then were entitled "snap, crackle & pop". I thought those words were as good a description as any. A lot of work was done by a lot of dealers before they narrowed the problem down. I just waited and watched and then I had Mike Challis do the work as he posted above. That took care of it. But now this snapping, creaking sound is coming back again and I might have to do same over. I have a lot more miles on the car now however. By the way, I kept all those posts on hard copy so I guess I would need a scanner to get them back on here again. Keep in mind, I'm a computer dunderhead. |
