I have had my bumpers painted for about a year and a half and have not had one problem. We probably did overkill prepping my bumpers, but we sanded them down, filled in the seams, and painted them gloss black. Once they were done, we wet sanded and buffed them to a smooth mirror finish. I was going to have mine painted, but the cheapest I could find locally was $550 just to have them painted. Total cost to do them on my own was about $50, not including beer. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

I had mine done at least two years ago. I have a couple of small nicks but I have over 25,000 miles on it, most of them since the bumpers were painted. No sign of any peeling. I got most of the nicks on the 4200 mile trip to Colo last month. There are absolutely no marks on the rear bumpers. I paid $ 200 to get them painted and another $ 50 to get the Plymouth Prowler lettered (that was before shimmers were available). They clear coated them after painting them. I took them off and re-installed them myself. I don't know if that affected the price. I have had a tremendous amount of compliments on them. They look better in person than in a photo. ------------------ |

I've seen inexpensive jobs that look good, and high priced jobs that look rough and terrible. I'd say Ed got a good paint job and clear for a very decent price. One of our locals paid $700 to paint their's, and I would have refused to take the car home. JMO |

I agree that Ed’s look good. Saw them down at Louisville. I recently got an estimate of $600 to paint mine. How far off painting the whole car is that. I know Fixum warned me that the job was so small that really paint shops don’t want to take it. Hum Cincinnati isn’t that far away. I may have to check with Ed as to where he had his done … ------------------ |

I removed my bumpers and took them to my local shop, COmpleted them in Black $ 75.00 The pictures do not do justice. Every Prowler show or event I go to many people compliment these. This message has been edited by lynnpt2001 on 07-24-2002 at 01:26 PM |

This cost me $250 because the Cat was in the shop for other paint work. The shop did R&R .The Rad cover was also included at that price. Can't hardly see the brush marks |

quote: If you need a painter let me know. If that is R&R plus painting $600 is not too far out of line. I would guess body shop would charge 3~4 hours to remove and reinstall I paid $175 to have the rear bumpers painted on mine...I LOVE the look ------------------ |

I got mine painted FREE by the dealer. I complained of grey spots and they agreed to re-paint them. I simply ask him to put yellow in the can instead of grey. Wolah! Yellow Bumpers! 19 months and no signs of wear. They also were clear coated. ------------------ |

Mine have been painted a year and a half or so. A few small chips but that is all. On long trips I use Speed Lingerie bumper covers to protect the front. I paid $400 including removal and replacment. |
