hemi V-8 in a prowler...well I did it! Last little problem...The Flex Plate Vibrates at high RPM'S. Does anyone know of a Flywheel that will fit the crank bolt pattern and is an overall match for the flex. It seems Chrysler does not make a new Hemi with a standard trans (no flywheel available)....somebody anybody help me im soooooo close and the car hauls some serious assssssss...

I don't know for sure, but I would guess they have a manual trans 5.7 hemi in a Dodge Truck

Very interested in seeing pictures

Awesome! Give us the rundown on how you did it. What are you using to cool it down? Did you need to beef up the frame for the extra weight?

Here are the biggest questions I have;
1) Did you have to alter the firewall or Tunnel?
2) How did you get the engine to talk to the tranny?
3) Did you fabricate new engine mounts?
4) How did you handle the Radiator issue?
5) What exhaust did you use?

Thank you for even attemping this.... Now feed us some info
Mike

I think that it is fair to say that if this could be done by the masses, this could alter life as we know it, here on the POA!! Can anyone imagine what it would be like to never hear " WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT A V8 IN THAT THING?" again?

HELP ME SOMEONE !!!!

I will answer the questions. However I still need to know of a flywheel that fits the new hemi, chrysler does not make a hemi-backed by a standard tranny as of date. I would surmise that another mopar flywheel would have the crank bolt pattern and over all dimentions and number of teeth for the starter. It seems no suppliers can give me the answer. The alternative will be to reinforce the Flex.

1. firewall or tunnel was unaltered
2. v8 computer was programmed to talk to
the tranny,tack,temp,etc. thats the biggest
problem,it took 56 hours by someone a whole
lot more computer savy than I
3. larger radiator was fabricated
4. glass packs/sounds great!
5. v8 only added 70 additional pounds to front. A few twist
took care of that
pictures follows sorry didnt take many (you gotta love that banana)

BWATT----The 6 bellhousing has a support bearing in it. Dont know if that affects anything. How are you attaching the driveshaft to the engine.

in response to how the drive shaft is connected...a coupler is bolted directly to the crank. the coupler has a ujoint with a splined sleeve to allow for slipage. much like outlaw cars and the kat is a 99

BWATTCAR.

Congrats on the ingenuity & sticktuitiveness... Sorry I'm not much of a gearhead to give you advice.

You might try calling Norm in WI. He's done several mods to the 3.5 motor and may be able to offer some asssistance.

Also, somewhere on here someone had helped with the Ligenfrlther modified LS1 that was installed in the Marriot Prowler along with a C5 tranny. He may have some information.

I'll try and do a search and post those links... RJP is the author and somewhere I think he said he now resided in Houston...

Here's link where someone in MI installed a V8 in the Prowler. pics by CJ from Detroit autorama...
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/010482.html

You may want to check with Moparmania. He attempted to put 5.7 hemi and ran into radiator clearance issues...
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000860.html

Now, when you're ready to test it on the Drag Strip, let me know and I'll meet you at the track or I'll arrange some track time here in Louisiana. I'm planning another run with Mike K. and I sometime in the fall (cooler temps) at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA.... You might want to join us...
