The conversion to the new TPMS system cost me:

4 x $35 (New TPS) + $115 (TPMS) + $100 (dealer computer) = $355

Keeping the old TPS system would have cost me at least:

4 x $130 (Old TPS from moparsupercenter.com) = $520

Therefore converting to the "new" TPMS system saves Prowler owners at least $165!

Spoons, Great job on this!

The savings are greater, calibration is needed for the new TPS modules to the existing receiver:

4 x 130 = 520 + dealer/tire shop calibration of new TPS modules!

Thanks for taking the initiative on this experiment. Very glad this works!

Now more food for thought. A list of DC models that have this newer receiver as original equipment would be good. We all could get these from salvage yards for cheap now or in the future? Even more savings!

Thanks Brian

I think I'm due to get replacements, my tire light is coming on and the air pressure is still OK. Car was built in june of 98 with silver wheels so they could very well be over 10 years old now

so what did the dealer have to do different with the newer model? Did you just tell them it was the later model controler?

I did not tell the dealer I switched the TPMS for fear they would not even try to register the new TPS with the new TPMS.
I just played dumb. I found that most dealers have little knowledge about TPMS.... especially the customer service reps.

How come this discussion isn't under "technical"? I think there may be a lot more owners this could benefit.

Ed 2 years ago I purchased 4 sensors at $72 a piece for my 2001. I bought 4 new Foose Legend rims and 4 new tires and had them installed by Chrysler dealer. Everything fine but low tire light came on soon after. Brought it back to Chrysler and they reset but again light came on. Went back and they said they'd have to break tires off rims to try and reset. I was afraid too much fiddling with the new tires and rims would only result w/the scratching of my new mint rims so I simply pulled the plug on the lights. I would have had to send all 4 back to Tire Rack in order 4 them to do something for me. I thought it best to eat the loss and keep my chrome rims perfect. So if this helps anyone good.
