A question for all you trailer owners out there.
I was thinking of making a hole behind the license plate incase the lock/latch ever fails.
Has anyone else here done such a thing?
Or I was considering a hole underneath at the rear with an access panel about the size of a license plate

I haven't tried or looked to see if it is possible but it might work to run a pull cable similar to the one on the Prowler deck lid in case power fails.

Beware I just bought another Prowler trailer and it came without the key, had a locksmith look at it & he couldn't open it, I'm waiting on another locksmith for this monday, suspect lock is frozen or jammed & may have to be drilled out

But I was also thinking of drilling a hole some where underneath & putting in a pull cable for such an emergency, Just trying to figure out how to splice it to the keyed cable or just do away with the key assemble.

Dave an access plate I'm not sure about but let us know what you come up with.

The lid does get out of adjustment the latch. I had to crawl inside with a tool kit, flashlight, and cellphone. to readjust it. Also I was told that the latch is the rear hatch latch off a Viper, no idea what year?

I've done this to a few trailers.
I use a 2" hole saw to come up from the bottom. If the latch fails or you lock your keys in the trailer, you can just remove the plug and pull the cable to release.

As part of the upgrade process I have put several trailers through I put a 5 to 6" hole in the floor. This makes enough room to get your hand up from the bottom of the trailer and on to the latch mech. so it can be released. I have a special catalog for the trailers that shows what should be done. They have several issues that really need to be addressed. This will give anyone food for thought. I have really thought this whole thing out. There are pictures and a really good description of what needs to be done. If you want one of these I'll be glad to send one to you---just let me know. I do have the special tools available for loan if you want to do this job yourself. The trap door is not to tough to do for average craftsmen. If you do this I do ask that you follow my directions completely and carefully. I hope this helps, Obi-Wan

I tried to find some but haven't been able to remember where I stored them.
I put the 2" hole in the floor a few inches to the right of the lock cylinder and about 2" or 3" forward of the rear frame crossmember if I recall correctly.
If any body really needs to know, I'll go to my trailer and take some pictures.
I used a hole saw and then just used the plug that was removed to refill the hole. I used silicone to seal the plug into place and put a bolt through the center guide hole with some threads hanging down so I can grab them if needed. The hole saw blade removes enough material that I can easily use a knife to cut around the plug if I ever need to. After the plug is removed you just need to use a wire or hook of some kind to grab the release cable and give it a jerk. This will release the latch.
