Has anyone one changed there pitcock? I drained and flushed the cooling system today and the only way i could get the coolant to come out was to remove the pitcock. After the 1st time I cleaned it and was clear and should have drained without removing, but still had to remove the next 2 time (used chemical flush to clean and had to drain, fill with water & flush, drain refill water, drain and fill with Coolant. I did install pitcocks with nipples on the block so I could attach a hose to them to minimize getting the coolant all over everything. So the last time I drained it, I drained block 1st so not to have a full radiator to drain. The threads on the radiator pitcock does not seem to be 3/8 pipe thread and is larger than 1/4. Before I have to do this again I will have a fix so I only get one more antifreeze shower. And the designer that made it so there was no radiator cap on the radiator should have an old antifreeze enema for making that system, the old cap on radiator is much easier to drain and refill. I have an idea on a fix for that too. ------------------ |

sometimes ,the pedcock will corrode internally, and must be replaced.the reason it doesn't have a top fill radiator is it needs another 2 inches hood clearence, when it only has 1 inch or less usually less.alot of cars out there have the same kind of system. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 11-14-2009 at 08:14 AM |
