Helpful Parts Guy:
I just got off the phone with Chris @ Dallas Dodge (214-319-1228) who was extremely helpful with me to find parts that I needed. I asked if he's mind if I posted his contact info here for others and he said 'please do'. He works with Dallas Dodge parts, specifically in online sales. He has the ability to source parts from private sellers as well as Dodge directly. He said that he constantly helps others procure hard-to-find parts and can take your requests and call you when he finds them. Although he could not sell me the part that I needed, he pointed out the the gas filler neck that I need could be sourced through the Prowler Store - which was correct, they had them in stock and I ordered one today. Very helpful.

Inner Tie Rod ends:
He also pointed out a swappable part number for the inner tie rod end for a Prowler. He said that the Part # MR519046 from a Dodge Stratus would fit the Prowler with equivalent functionality. A little larger, but functional since the old part has been permanently discontinued. I wanted to share that here in case if anyone needs these.

I do not believe it is a problem obtaining the outer tie rods as they are used on other Chrysler cars.

Supposedly there is no substitute for the outer tie rod end, only the inner. I am only going from what I was told. I really would love to be wrong here...

I searched and searched and found zero. If you are looking online, make sure you call them first. Every single one that I called that showed having stock actually had ZERO including every single ebay auction (at that time).

The inner ones are now not a problem if the aforementioned solution actually works. If someone tries it, please let us know.

I had my driver side inner tie rod replaced back in Aug 09 ...
It was rough trying to find just the inner tie rod since it shows that you have to replace the whole steering rack .
However Don Ward ( 832) 717 - 4977),was able to find a part to fit and so far so good .
Here is the info ... Mopar Steering Tie Rod part # MR519046
This part came from an 01 - 05 2 door Stratus
Cost for part $72.20
Good Luck .... ~ Sugar ~
{Oops I've corrected the Phone #} Thanks Mickey !
Also the inner tie rod will be a different color than the original rod ...Its lighter in color

As always, thanks Robin. I need to start calling you Mr. SQL as you seem way more efficient than this archaic search function here. (it's an IT joke for those of you that do not get it...)

OK maybe it just me. I ordered a set of the MR519046 inner tie rods and found they will not work. The threads on the shaft are not long enough for adjustment and the shaft on the ball joint end is to long to fit into the steering box.

Not sure what's going on Gary.

This is from Kees

Gents,
This should probably go into the Replacement Part or Technical section of the board but it's good to know and saves
a bundle:

I had an issue with somebody hitting me on the passenger side and my inner tie rod was bent. When scanning several dealer sites they could only supply me a complete steering rack (appr. 1600 US$).

I found the POA message of David with the reply of ivegotsugar and decided to give the Sebring/Stratus tie rod's a try.

I ordered them at a dealer locally and they supplied me the replacements of MOOG Steering Tie Rod part # MR519046

The shaft itself is slightly thicker (not the end's they are exactly the same) so you need 2 to keep the car symetric and you have to paint them but all in all a very cheap, direct replacement and easy fix !!
(and yes, while at the job anyway I replaced the tie rod ends also)

Keep this in mind when you are in desperate need for them.

Best regards,

Kees

I purchased the set of inter tie rods from FEBEST in July of this year. They have a good reputation and stand behind their products. I assure you that they are not a direct replacement for the factory tie rods, but can be modified to work. They will require about an additional one inch of threads to be added to insure enough adjustment. Also it will be necessary to fabricate some kind of spacer to fit on the ball joint end to insure that it will not bottom out when attaching it to the steering box. We checked this out during a recent suspension exchange. The overall length of the tie rod is the same. The FEBEST tie rod is a little bit thicker as Kees states. I have checked with several other suppliers of the MR519046 and find they are the same. I cannot explain the difference that Kees found in 2015. I look forward to someone else purchasing a set of the replacement tie rods and seeing what they find.

Gary I mean this with all do respect

Gary you are probably the only one that deals with this issue due to the chroming aspect of things.
If anyone ever need one I'm sure (THEY)we will have to fight that battle then. But for now I can't see anyone just taking apart there car to test fit the inner tie rod until its absolutely necessary. That's what make this difficult.

I will drive more aggressive to speed up this process.
so I can help figure this out .promise..lol
