running out of gas introduces air into the system and can damage fuel injectors. I don't think its the fuel filter. Check and see if it threw any codes? could it some how have gone into safe mode . Try disconnecting negative cable on battery and then wait couple minutes and reconnect. This message has been edited by robin on 11-29-2017 at 12:49 PM |

You might just have air in the fuel line, The fuel pump will not create enough fuel pressure to pass thru the injectors. Before you buy all these parts, hook up a pressure tester to the fuel port at the top of the engine, turn the key on and bleed the port valve by either loosen the tester hose or by opening the small relief valve. You can buy a cheap tester from Harbor tools. If the car ran fine before running out of fuel, This is what it sounds to me is your problem. It is very easy to do & you don't have to be a mechanic to perform this repair. You may have to turn the key on for 10 or 15 seconds many times to bleed it. Try this before you spend money for parts need. (( Just My Opinion )) |

Filled a half tank of gas and drove it for about 30 min. and there was no change. So I took it to get the codes read and it said the evaporative canister was bad. And an engine misfire between cylinders 1 and 12. (Yes it said 12) Ok now the good news I bought a bottle of CRC power 1 tank power additive to put in the car and the idle smoothed out within 10 mins. And the car gradually straightened out over the next couple times I drove it. The check engine light went off and I checked the codes again and the canister code was off. I decided to unhook the battery over night and read the codes again after I drove to work and back,60 miles , and no codes. It has more power and still idles perfect. Check engine light is off. |

John I would not put up with these problems, you should sell it to me for next to nothing and be done with it. LOL Glad you are back on the road and thanks for following up with results. Might pay to put a bottle of this stuff in once a year. |
