I know a lot of topics were covered over the past 20 years, but if like me you check this site almost daily for some sign of life you might forgive the repetitive posts.

Next up - tried to fill up yesterday, had a hell of a time, tried nozzle sideways, upside down, half open, you name it. Gave up after 8 gallons went in - kept clicking off. I filled up a couple of weeks ago, same pump and no problems?

Thanks - I did a recall check before purchase and it didn't show anything outstanding. How do you get a copy of the service bulletins?

Try to find a pump where you are facing down hill and even leaning to the left helps. There is a vent tube that they had an advisory for, waaay back. That helped some, not so much for others. Twisting the handle or pulling it out an inch or so are other helpful hints from Heloise. lol
The 99s seemed to have the most problems with that. It only holds about 11 gallons so putting in 8 gals is doing pretty good.

I have a similar problem on pontoon boat - have to use a small funnel to fill that up, might try same on Prowler, need a solution as looks like you have to fill up every other day! What's the range? 150 miles or so?

You might ask a Chrysler or Dodge service department writer to run a Chrysler VIP SUMMARARY Report on your car's VIN #

That report may show what you are looking for as far as 'recall notices and completed repair'

Just a thought...will not cost you anything to look at the report..

On July 8, 2019 Prowler Member DTK posted a similar topic here re: a 97 Prowler and included the P/Ns suggested within the Service Bulletin.... what follows is my reply to him... (he did not respond to my info so I don't know if he had any success.)

If you search on eBay and search on ONLY THE NUMBERS (4786478) you should/may get 2 matches. One description states it is a fuel filler neck for a 97 Prowler.
Maybe you could contact the sellers and request an actual photo of the item.

ALSO, THE PRxxxxx Store carries a six piece Fuel Filler Neck Kit (97-99) which has a similar price to the ebay items noted above. (it's under the heading Fuel System Parts). The claim is that it is a "Official Factory FIX".

As always, buyer beware! Since you won't know if it fixes YOUR problem until it is installed and tested, it's no doubt unreturnable.

If you do get this Kit please let us know if you have success!

Good luck!
Scott

Fuel pump: When refueling, the pump nozzle may keep clicking off and/or the tank may stop accepting fuel when it is only half-full due to a problem with the filler neck. A revised neck is available. (1997-99)

I had the Plymouth Dealer R&R the fuel vent and fill system with the new parts to fix the fueling issue on my 99. Still did not work. It filled sort of ok as long as the vehicle was cool. If you filled it after a good run of several hours the pump shut off over and over again...It is what it is.

I have never had anything done to try and fix ours. At some pumps it's no problem, yet at others it can be near impossible to get gas into the tank. I always try and find a pump were the car is leaning away from the pump and hopefully also with the nose lower than the rear. Under those circumstances I have much better luck filling the tank.

It is flat here in Indiana so I can't trick the Prowler into taking gas. Some days are worse than others even at the same pump. I have a newer filler neck out of a 2000 but never installed it, I need to put a priority on it.

Yes, I had the same problem this morning in 40-degree weather. I should wait until it's down to a quarter tank. Beware, some Prowlers from 99 like mine, did not have an accurate fuel sender at or below 1/4 tank. I spent a small fortune reinstalling my fuel pump with an updated, precise sender. For all of that effort, I know when the Prowler is genuinely low on fuel.
