Anyone have a favorite? I have a dead battery. I hear NAPA legend are decent. Are Mopar any good? Advice on CCA etc. I know Optima used to be good. It's 2024. What is a decent battery? Thanks, John |

I have had good results with Costco batteries, Interstate makes them. I don't think anyone gives made then 3 year warranty anymore. |

Most my batteries for years I have bought at Sam’s club They have good exchange policy if something goes bad & there are only a few manufacturers of batteries with different labels I’ve bought some interstate batteries when more special battery is needed A good battery saver is worth the money for maintaining on computer controlled vehicle, have 4 or 5 for newer cars ------------------ |

Tried many different brands over the years, but nowadays I just put Walmart batteries in all the 12 volt cars. Seem to last just as well as any other, and if something does happen, there is usually a Walmart close by. The 6 volt cars get interstate because I can’t find anything else and they too are pretty easy to find. |

Sam's club for me. I don't even keep the receipts. They look it up in the computer and give me a new one. No muss, no fuss and pretty good prices. Plus they are all over the country. |

Batteries are the only thing I buy from Walmart. I think they are made by Johnson Controls, a major battery manufacturer. |

The battery I replaced was an Optima. Made in 2008. A constant trickle charge I believe kept it good. I understand that Optima batteries are not high quality anymore. There was a time when all I bought were Sears Die Hard batteries. Those were the days. John |

All I run is Optima. You just said it, made in 2008. It’s 2024 I think it had a good run! I replaced my terminals as well. There is a lot of options for those. I run the gold plated stereo system ones that have a spot for each individual wire. They are between 20-30 bucks. You run the tender wire right into its own socket so no stacking messy wires. These Recoil ones look the cleanest in my opinion. Much nicer set up. Get another Optima and don’t worry about it for another 16 years. I too remember the Die Hard batteries back in the day. They were the best.

In 2007 Johnson Controls moved the Optima battery production to Mexico. There is a dispute about Optima batteries on this forum. http://forums.aaca.org/topic/256845-optima-battery-yes-or-no-and-where/ |

From experience, it’s all I run. Have you had a bad experience with Optima’s? My wife’s beetle has one I put in 3 years ago as well. Thanks for the link tho. Good information. |

Just bought these on Amazon. 22 bucks shipped, you can see the voltage in real time. Easy alternator check too! |

You are very welcome brother. Those digital ends never showed up. I have to get a hold of Amazon. Seriously tho. change your cable ends and your ground cable if it’s original. Those ends 2 ga ground wire and you have no question there won’t be any issues at all. |

Rainy day project. I dig em! 2 GA ground is fat!! 13 at rest with the tender hooked up. 13.9 Running. Have to update pics. Went to 13.0 last night on the tender and stayed there. I left the tender unhooked for the entire day, I did this at around 7 am. I wanted to see if my car had a draw. It’s always plugged in so I never knew. All good sat at 12.9 for 14 hours straight, definitely no draw on the battery at rest. This message has been edited by cdeluca99 on 06-12-2024 at 09:49 AM |
