For about 10+ years now I have been making everything form fiberglass and carbon fiber body and race parts to Twin Turbo systems for the Dodge Viper crowd (cars made on the same line as the prowler)

I noticed the other day that the Prowler uses the same coilovers as the Gen 2 Vipers.

I put these together for the Viper guys, they have always been looking for a reasonably priced set of adjustable coil overs. These coil overs are ride height adjustable and have dampening and rebound and height adjustment on the fronts and dampening and ride height adjustability on the rears. These coilovers also weigh much less than the stock coilovers as well

These will be a perfect fit in the prowler and I use only super high quality Eibach race springs, which allow me to pick exact spring rates to tailor the ride (softness) to what the owner prefers. I can pick spring rates in 50 lb increments

Here are some pics and another pic with all the features, for the Vipers I have regular length coilovers and coilovers that are and inch shorter to ensure that for the guys that want to lower their cars, they have the the shocks operating at optimal stroke height

Marked up

If anyone is interested just PM me and we can work out some details

These Coilovers are only $1595 a set, a small price to pay to swap out the super stiff Koni's with a completely adjustable solution.

$ 1595 for a set of four and they will fit the rear of the Prowler?

Yes, they fit the rear no problem, they thread into the fork just like the Koni's or Dynamics do.

Thank you for developing a replacement for Prowler. Has anyone priced rear shocks lately? I'd love to see photos and notes from an actual installation. I may try this as I need a rear replacement.

If anyone can get rear stock coilovers I am sure they are at an MSRP of $1335 each, They are the exact same as the ones on the Gen 2 Vipers and I don't think those are available anymore. The Gen 3 Viper Coilovers have a different thread on the bottom and the "horseshoe" on the Gen 3 Vipers is different as well

None yet, but let me hit you with the logic

All prowler coilovers are Dodge Viper coilovers (shared)

These coilovers are built to fit the Dodge Viper

These coilovers will fit the prowler, there is no way they cant

The only variable will be to determine the spring rates required to give the best ride, the dampening and rebound and ride height are all user adjustable

The Prowler probably rides so stiff because Dodge probably put the exact same coilovers in the prowler that they put into the viper, 225 lb front springs preloaded 3 inches to a 675 static spring rate and rear 425 lb springs preloaded 1.5 inches to a similar static spring rate of 638 lbs approx.

I will offer a full money back guarantee to anyone that tries these to get the ball rolling.

If anyone can take a caliper and measure the exact thickness of the springs they have in their prowler, I can approximately determine the spring rate in the cars now. Dodge pretty much use the same spring manufacturer on all the viper/prowler lines so the "spring" rate is pretty much linear to the thickness of the spring coil.

It would be helpful to know the current spring rate for a stock prowler.

I was told long ago that the Prowlers had the same front shocks as the Jeep Cherokee.

If anyone has a spare front and a spare rear, I can get the springs measured and everything fine tuned

Anyone know of a good used prowler part place?

so would the new product be able to both stiffen and soften the spring compared to what the OEM Prowler set up is doing now ?.... I was thinking of extending my rear tire out past the wheelwell but concerned about a Rub on the edge... if the rear springs could be stiftened ( more than the current setup) then there would be less chance of this.... at the same time thinking about softening the ride in the front....

We will be able to pick the springs you like, usually for the Vipers, (since we don't preload the springs) we use 650 to 800 lb rear springs, the "feel" is the same but the springs compress 1/2 as much when you hit a bump as they are linear springs. we then control the speed of the movement with the dampening know (11 settings) .

Up front we can do the same, only up front we have rebound control as well which gives us another 6 settings, so 66 options up front compared to nothing now.

Another nice thing is that since these springs are not preloaded (a niceway of saying they took a 13 inch spring and squeezed it into a 10 inch space on the coilover) the springs I use are 8 inch race springs, they look way nicer and are the rate they are marked. so to swap out springs it is a simple unbolt the coilover , slip off the old spring and slip on a new spring.

Just like with the vipers there will people that want a racier ride and people that want a softer ride, both scenarios are just going to be a matter of picking the ride spring and selecting the right settings

Thanks for sharing all this great information and knowledge, I'm sure there are many of the guys with the Gen Dyn shocks that will jump on this... They are on my list, can't wait to hear about the experience of trying this new development...

It would depend on the rods and pistons in the engine. I would not be surprised if we could make a real screamer out of a prowler with some properly sized Turbos

I'm not much of a techie but a local guy said I would need some Low compression Pistons.... He has tuned his VW to dyno 580 RWHP... The 3.5 being an interference engine would be prone to catastrophic failure if things went bad

The OP says they fit into a Prowler "No Problem" but if I'm reading this correctly (and I may not be) he has not yet tried them in a Prowler.

It may be much ado about nothing on my part but it would be nice to know and see photos of the installed product (I'm sure that's where the money back offer comes in).

The OP has some stock prowler parts on the way,

the rears thread just like the Viper = No problem

the fronts are just Jeep shock = No problem, they look just like the Viper Koni's.

I have dealt with Motons, Penskes, KW's etc. for street and race cars, I can easily make a set for Prowlers.

There are not many cars out there that use threaded to cast aluminum horseshoe pieces for the rear like the viper and prowler do, this limits the gene pool so to speak and makes for expensive replacement parts, hence why your front shocks if you buy the jeep part can be had for $99 and why the rears are about $1000, add to that the fact that the stock springs are just regular "springs" not checked and tested race springs and that the stock shocks are not adjustable in height or dampening or rebound (maybe if they are the koni's but you have to take them apart and compress them and screw with them vs twisting a knob.

Suffice it to say, the solution is there, I guess we just have to see if there is a need at all.

Money back was a risk free way of saying, I take the risk, not you, it is not an admission of not knowing or experimentation, if the offer is not appreciated feel free to ignore it

Its not really the # of coils, its the coilovers them selves, the fact that you count 12 coils, just means that Dodge used very low spring rate springs in the back, probably 250 lb per inch and preloaded them , your springs are probably 14 1/2 inches long when removed from the coilover and the distance the shock is from the top to the top of the fork (when installed) is probably close to 10", the distance from the bottom of the removed shock to the bottom of the spring cap is probably ~12.25 inches.

I am going to look at a local prowler tomorrow and get a good read on what's what and get some detailed measurements. It looks to me that Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler actually put stiffer springs out front than they did in the back, but I will verify that tomorrow.
