Marty... yesterday via Overnight Letter to the Event Director, I made a personal request for some "Official" information regarding the 2005 Power Tour and past Power Tours that may be helpful in our informing and rallying the POA Members. My request was for printed materials, video media and Internet links for our Members in hopes that these will answer questions and dispel any myths regarding the Power Tour. In short my efforts, along with yours and others is to promote this and other Power Tours for the benefit and enjoyment of the Prowler Owners. I am excited and I will attempt to get at least 149 more Prowler Owners as excited too. More later, Jay |

quote: Yes Ed - Power Tour only stays in a city one day & the next morning you drive to the next city. We plan to just make individual reservations using the Power Tour Hotels (once they are announced)along the way until we get to Tallahasee where we will meet with the Huge POA Group Jay Harris is organizing and then all drive together to Kissimee where we will stay two nights. After that some of us are off to the Keys, others to different location in Florida. In case a a group wishes to stay longer in Kissimee I will ask for rates for extended nights there. |

Ed - Sorry I did not look at the date you were asking about. I replied about it being ONE DAY, but Laddie is correct - we are in Tallahassee on June 9, June 10 is the day we all drive to Kissimmee. |

Thanks for the correction, Laddie. I got interrupted and screwed up. I was attempting to make reservations for Thanksgiving at the same time and got a couple other calls. I should have double checked that. I will call tomorrow. I am still not positive I am/we are coming. |

quote: Bob - I am waiting for the sales people at Double Tree Villas in Kissimmee to get back to me with a price. They called while we were having lunch Saturday and said they would email me with rates. I did not receive anything so I have left a message for the saleslady who is off until Tuesday afternoon. I'll post the rates in this thread when I get them. |

Marty started the hotel thing so I'll share where we've booked for the long haul so far. The Event company has various motels at each stop and their rates are rather high for many of the properties. Rather than wait for everything to book up, we selected hotels near the event grounds each night. 6/3 & 6/4 Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Milwaukee Airport This message has been edited by RPL on 11-15-2004 at 08:02 PM |

Marty... in response to my recent letter to the 2005 Hot Rod Power Tour Promotion Company, I have received the following personal reply. Due to scanner problems, I am re-typing the entire letter’s contents as follows... November 11, 2004 Dear Jay, Well it seems you need some help convincing your club members that the 2005 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour will be a FUN and safe Touring event! Enclosed you will find some information and videos from the past couple of years. Sorry I don't have update 2005 facts yet, we are still nailing down the last few details, matter of fact I have to drive the route the end of this month to make sure the roads are decent to drive! The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour is a seven city in seven-day tour. The tour is set up for a 350 mile to 400 mile drive between cities, this way we don't try to set land speed records or push the participants too hard. The object of the tour is to get out and enjoy our Hot Rods and to maybe see a part of the Country you normally may not see. Each day the tour follows a predetermined route and we encourage safe driving, we have a Lead Vehicle that drives the tour per the directions given and at the posted speed limits. Now we all know not everyone likes to drive the speed limit, but we do our best to keep this from becoming a Cannonball Run. There is no award for getting there first and actually we request that touring vehicles not arrive to the next venue until after the Lead Vehicle has arrived. We start each day at 9:00 am and around 2-3:00 pm we should arrive in the next city for a very large cruise in. Last year we had over 25 sponsors and all of them had displays that would travel from city to city and set up just like a regular car show. I hope this information is helpful. If they need more information Mothers Polish has some great pics and diary entries on their website the last couple of years. Hotrod.com is also another good place to get info. Let me know if there is anything else I can help out with. Once I have the 2005 flyer produced I will send you some to distribute to your club. Sincerely,
|

Regarding the last two nights in Tallahassee and Kissimmee, I am ONLY working on the Kissimmee connections. I am in hopes one of the Tallahassee area Florida Kat Pack Members will be able to secure something for us. Any Tallahassee area Members reading this, please give me a call Toll Free @ 877 KAT PACK. I've got a budget deal at a upscale Kissimmee location but so far I have been unable to lock in the price without a "firm" guarantee, however I do think I am pretty close to getting what I want... more negotiating after the Turkey Run. I will keep y'all posted, Jay |
