Turns out there's more interest in this event than I expected. For those planning to attend AND spend the night in Kingman, I urge you to make reservations soon. Folks in the know tell me this Fun Run is a pretty Big Deal in Kingman and the hotels fill up. I made reservations at the TraveLodge - 928-757-1188 and they had rooms left as of this afternoon, 4/14/08. There are about a dozen inns along Andy Devine Ave (Route 66) in Kingman. Here's a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&q=hotel&near=kingman,+az&jsv=107&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12 And here's the link to official info on the Fun Run: http://www.azrt66.com/index.html C Ya! |

I made reservation at the Holiday Inn Express in Kingman for both Friday and Sat night. I will drive in from San Diego Friday. This will be my first time attending this event, so not sure what to expect. However, I had a discussion with a gentlemen who goes every year and says it is a blast and last year they had 1,100 cars…!!! The entire town of Kingman gets into the event with lots of cruising and 50’s music. See Ya there |

Count me in. I recommend staying in Williams on Friday night even if you are coming from the West. The place to stay is the Best Western Inn of Williams. 800-635-4445. Whereas the flag comes down to send off the cars from Seligman at 10:00 a.m., you want to be there no later than 9:00 a.m. for reasons you will come to appreciate when you get there. I recommend departing Williams for Seligman at 8:00 a.m. The staging in Seligman is a grand event in itself. On Saturday morning as you are moving West on I-40, its very important to watch for a small sign that says Crookton Road after you pass Ash Fork. It may also say Route 66 but this is an easy sign to miss, so if you see a I-40 over pass coming up, that could be the one. Take that exit for some of the best of the old 66 mother road including seeing some original road bed and great scenery. You do NOT want to proceed further west on I-40 for the main Seligman off ramp. If you get to that point, you blew it. Save your lunch stop for Truxton. Plan to spend a good deal of time at the Hackberry stop. Bring a folding chair and your camera. Important: Be sure that you are arriving Seligman with a full tank of gas from a nearby town before arriving. The best spot for Saturday night in Kingman is the Holiday Inn Express as noted. |

And while in Hackberry, don't forget to see if this is still on the back wall. Was still there last year when we stopped. Looking forward to seeing you again Roger. |

Sandy and myself had a great time and we intend on doing it again next year. 2000 miles on this event and my candy red purred like a kitten. Now to get ready for the BIG COLORADO event June 19th to 24th. Anybody planning to go get your registration in before its too late. |
