We were a couple of weeks too late. Wished we could have made the event, even though Mark was there. Sorry Kristin he had to tag along. Mike, great pictures.

Today...some 5 months after the Key West Cruise I received my bill for using the Florida Turnpike. The amount was $3.05 plus $3 admin charges.

Gary. Florida has a neat system. No toll booths. They have posted numbers to call to pay the bill (if you don't have a sun pass). My letter has several pictures of my license plate indicated what time, what toll mile marker, what lane I was in, etc.
I was expecting it but my POA attorney(ed) suggested not to pay it and just stay out of Florida the rest of my life.

I think you meant your POS attorney(ed)!

Thanks for attending our cruise, and thanks for supporting the Florida road system! When it comes to billing, looks like we are a little slow down here. Guess we should have charged you 5 months interest!! LOL

Hope to see you again at another get together.

For now the majority are still manned but if you fail to pay they can eventually suspend your driver's license.
It happens all the time.

Bruce, that happened to my kid. He ignored it & a $3.00 dollar fee grew to over $30.00. The last warning said he would loose his license. I told him, don't be stupid, so he paid it. Is Gary right, are you a toll booth runner?

I am telling the truth. I did not see a toll booth the entire trip. These bills occurred between Miami and Marathon. I knew I was on a toll way but no entrance or exits with toll booths, tickets, gates, etc. I am not complaining and glad to donate my $6 bucks if it helps. lol
If Greg, Norm, or anyone else puts another Key West event on we would be there! A great part of the country especially in the dead of winter!

Nancy. We stayed off the toll roads most of the time and were on them for only for a short distance. I like the manned booths better. Changes are coming and it probably soon will all be automated.

Bruce, it was the same way in Toronto. No booths and not even a sign saying you were on a toll road. I got a bill for $ 23.65 plus $ 22.10 for processing. I ignored it and got about 5 final notices. They finally gave up.
If they had sent a reasonable bill, without all the extra fees, I would have sent them the money. I think the company that owned the road was in Australia, but I am not positive.
I know we all posted about it back then.
Here it is,

"I got my bill today.
Only $ 45.75.
Toll charge 23.65
Acct. Fee 2.00
Video toll 20.10"

All the toll booths on the Turnpike Extension are now without toll booths as are most of the expressways in Miami that have tolls.

From SUNPASS site: "Welcome to All-Electronic, No-Cash Tolling!
Driving on Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade is easier than ever now that the cash lanes have gone away. You don't ever have to stop to pay a toll."

What I've read is that all toll booths (if not already) will be removed by year end. Anyone coming to another Keys adventure should get a transponder, the small static ones are cheap $4.95.

As for another keys adventure, Greg, we need to talk! We should do this every year about the same time in Jan.
