Wednesday, day 3. Destination Sideways Roy's Garage. We were graciously invited to one of the most coveted collection of cars in Colorado. And what a collection. Hell, for that matter, what a garage!! I think there is in the neighborhood of 50 cars. But who's counting! |

Cars are EVERYWHERE! I'm sure maintenance days last weeks! Inside is nicer than most houses! And the Mile Hi Prowler group hosted an all expense paid cook out. There was enough food to feed an army! Suzy was the official griller! And what a job she did. |

Including our main host and hostess After a wonderful meal, it was off to Red Rock Amphitheater, the site of outdoor concerts in the Denver area. Built into a mountain. After we left, a few f us stopped nearby to get a couple of pictures. (The rest of the group stopped here on the way in). |

Dan's car was also there, but the pic he posted earlier are better than mine. Gene and Dixie And Jerry, Mr Pretty in Pink! We had to remind him to wet his lips, and stick out his chest and make it perky!! LOL! All for tonight. |

Well Crap. I thought I fixed the picture size. Sorry, this is a newer program I'm using to resize pics and I noticed I was making them smaller than in the past. I tried to correct it but it reverted when I wasn't looking. Damn computers! I'll try to do better. |

As Casey Kasem used to say, and now, back to the countdown. Day 4, Destination Estes Park and Grand Lake via Trail Ridge Road. The requisite line up and wait then up the road about an hour to gas up and eat a HUGE cinnamon roll. Today's leader was Jim (I think...told you not good with names) who met up with us when we got gas. This is his car with the neat trunk He owns a boat shop nearby and so we went by for a picture for him. If anyone is in the market for a boat, he's your man! A bunch of lookers, no buyers. Bunch of cheap bastards! LOL The boat dealership is a family run business and his kids work there with him. Good looking family. |

Then on to Trail Ridge Road, part of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The entry to the park, paying a toll. It was more beautiful scenery along the way. This is along the road. If you look close, there are tall poles all along the road. My assumption is they are road markers for snow plows when snow covers everything. |

As we were going along, the traffic slows as people were looking at something. This is what was laying not far from the road. Some MAJESTIC animals. Absolutely beautiful elk. This was worth the trip by itself. (Thanks to my brother for these 2 pics) The drive was spectacular. As we continued to get higher and higher. |

We stopped at the top parking lot to use the bathroom and stretch legs. And get a couple of pictures. Then back on the road |

...to our next stop, Grand Lake. We again had reserved, private parking. Some of us signed up to take a boat tour of Grand Lake. We had a young "captain" from West Virginia, nice fellow though maybe not a rocket scientist. Gave us information on the lake, pointed out some things of interest. Supposedly Tim Allen's house top of pic Then the "B" team went out on the boat. Ate and relaxed a little after that before the trip back to Denver. |

This was one cute sign by the boat dock. The drive back took us by other nearby lakes. And a couple of small towns with quaint statues. But like most prowler trips, there were a couple of storm clouds on the horizon. And we got caught in a storm. There was one prowler that hadn't been wet in at least 4 years; since the present owner bought it. I think it shrunk a size!! |

In order to let the traffic die down a little going back into Denver, we stopped at a pizza place on the way back. GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS, and GOOD TIMES! and fair service! For those praying Oh my God, will this never end?? The answer is yes, just one more day of pictures, Pike's Peak. But that is all for today. |

CONCLUSION Day 5, Destination Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak A number of people had to leave by the fifth and final day. It's ashame, as they missed a GREAT day. Went south for a bit, then gassed up and headed for the Garden of the Gods, a beautiful rock formation. |

Then it was on the way to Pikes Peak, arriving at the entrance. You have to pay a toll to go up. So it took us a few minutes to get through, and we got separated a little while doing so. Then we headed up along a winding, steep road with little to no shoulder. |

If you notice this "guard shack" in the middle of the road. You have to stop there on the way back down and a guy uses an infrared gun to check the temperature of your brakes. If they're too hot, they make you pull over and let them cool down first. You have to use first gear a lot on the way down to slow your descent. |
