The higher you went, clouds began to cover the road in places. Looked like fog. Could really reduce visibility. Then it would pass and be clear as can be. Lakes were visible down below in places. |

And we finally reached the peak. Some in the group got a little lightheaded at this elevation. Or a headache. Makes you pay attention to your footing. It was 43 degrees at the top on my mirror temp. Looking over the edge, but clouds in the way. Then it was time to go back down. Had to use first gear most of the way. Interestingly, on the way up the were quite a few people on bikes going uphill to the top. There ain't enough air to fill one nostril with 2 breaths!! What were they thinking? Obviously they had been conditioning themselves for quite some time. |

Thanks Dru, I think that was one of the weirdest places I have ever driven. Did you notice the wear on the yellow line in the middle of the road? The passenger was always looking at the drop off. |

Once we reached the bottom, we went to a nearby restaurant for lunch. Time to discuss and relive the trip to Pikes Peak. Even a creek just behind your table. And it was Suzy's Birthday as well. Sorry, not a great picture. Afterwards, back to the hotel. It was the last night so most that were left met up on the roof to talk, celebrate a great trip, and relive some fantastic memories. I'll finish this as I began, with a sincere THANK YOU to all the Mile Hi Prowler group that made this happen. We cannot thank you enough for all your time, energy, and expense pulling it off. And to John, a special salute to you sir!! |

Just wondering if anyone got to see the pictures John took from the helicopter of the Prowlers on the Royal Gorge bridge? He told me he would try to make them available at some fee so he could recoup his costs for the helicopter time. I know he is probably very busy with his new job. |

quote: He said it would be a while Greg. He said something about putting his pictures on a CD and a poster of the bridge shot. He isn't on here much lately. |
