If the recall was anything like the power wheels jeeps they replaced both batteries and re-wired it with a better gauge of wire. In the end I took out the crappy batteries and installed the battery from my jetski. My kids could drive it for hours at a time and then I would just leave it on a trickle down charger when not in use.
