Congrats on the sale.

Someone will have fun shifting with the 6 speed. The SSR's are heavy (compared to the lightweight Prowler) but with the 390 HP LS2 engine it moves pretty well, especially once you get it rolling!

Hi everyone, I bought Joes SSR, I drove it back up the east coast 900 miles to Virginia Beach,to get use to the vehicle. It was a 13 hours drive. The weather and traffic were perfect for the most part. I also own a purple 99 prowler, I bought it with 700 miles on it about 6 months ago, I drove it back from Vermont. You are very correct about the weight difference between the two cars.

Happy New Year to everyone.

I was also thinking about the SSR, then I saw the production numbers and prices on the used car market--looks like the dealers can't give these things away, plus they are too heavy--I'll take my lightweight prowler any day, never get tired of looking at it or driving it!!!

Stock vs stock I like the styling of the Prowler better. Since I like to modify my vehicles I can have them look the way I want and be happy with the look of either to be used as a daily driver. If I ever get to have a weekend/fairweather/car show vehicle, I'll be looking to buy another Prowler.

Performance wise the 2003/2004 SSR's only have a 300 HP engine pushing all that weight but the 2005/2006 have a LS2 390-400 HP Corvette engine and especially with the 6 speed move pretty good. I guess I will find out at the Tulsa event if my Stock SSR engine can outrun the stock Prowlers.

Marty, I have an 05 SSR and 99 Prowler with 75hp Nitrous. Haven't done it yet but I still think the SSR may edge out the Prowler even with the extra weight and the NO. I'm curious about the results if you get a chance to do a run.

Contemplating the turbocharger for the SSR at about $6500. But may hold out and invest in the new big Hemi Challenger instead. I had a deposit on the Shelby but bought the SSR for $25k less and with the Turbo I suspect I could give the Shelby a pretty good run plus the fun quotient is higher.

They are totally diff. vehicles with totally different looks. Both are cool retro vehicles. The more I see the SSR the more I like them. Some day they might be worths ome big bucks too. Not that many of them out there.

I'd say the Prowler with a 75 shot would certainly win in the 1/8 - maybe a SSR with gears could run it down in the 1/4 mile. I agree with Ed (did I really just post that) that they are two totally different vehicles. I wish I could afford to own 1 of each.
